A new Stone Temple Pilots song called "Black Heart" has been made available for streaming on iHeartRadio! The song is the second taste of the new Stone Temple Pilots material to be premiered in the wake of Chester Bennington becoming the band's frontman, following the single "Out Of Time" back in July. Both songs will appear on the upcoming five-track EP "High Rise", which is set to be released on October 8. Earlier this month, fans were teased with a photo posted on Instagram which was taken at a rehearsal and shows a "Black Heart" lyrics sheet. I think it's an awesome song. I love that guitar in the main riff and chorus. You want to jump along with it.. We got to see the lyrics beforehand a few days ago but I didn't expect those dark-ish lyrics to be paired with this bubbly music. It's a very nice surprise.
Digging it, especially the verses, which almost have a "Cage The Elephant" vibe Though I feel the song/guitar solo could have been a tad longer.
I can't listen to it yet but interestingly enough it currently has like universal acclaim over at the BelowEmpty boards. Both LP and STP fans seem to dig it.
They've had enough time to digest the fact that STP has a new lead vocalist and, since "Black Heart" is a brand-new song, the nostalgia surrounding STP's "classic" songs isn't as much of a factor.
