Hey all, sorry to be a thread whore today... I graduated from the same high school that Phoenix did, and I have always known he went to the same school as I did... (actually, I went to the same middle and high schools as he did...) However, I was back at my high school observing a favorite history teacher this past week (because I want to teach), and an old friend of mine was actually student teaching for another teacher. I sat in on one of his classes and noticed that this other teacher had a signed poster of Meteora in her classroom. So, I asked her about it and it turns out she is a personal friend of Dave's. We talked a little bit and she discussed his nickname. She said that he made his nickname as a joke (he always talked in high school about rising from the ashes) but also she said something interesting about how a PR guy told him he'd need a nickname because he was so average compared to the other band members. He was actually somewhat of a dork, she said. Above 4.0 GPA, UCLA student, supersmart and nerdy. Anyways, she attended school at the same time as Dave. Don't know how true the PR guy story is, but thought it was interesting enough to post about. Sorry, no names.
Funny story, would explain alot about our Bassman. There's always a good reason why he deserves to be with LP.
