This song was written to be acoustic and I may use this in the future if I'm in a band. I feel it's my best work and I absolutely love it. The verses are meant to be softly sung, not rapped, as some people may think. I think if I were to actually perform this it would be very, very lengthy. Give me your feedback, please. (STANDING) NEXT TO YOU. Sometimes it confuses me when I open my mouth Because I feel that to get to you I must shout But when I start to say the words that I have to They fall to the ground before they ever reach you You told me not to worry and you told me not to fret But now I'm wondering if now I must regret I never talked to you that Spring when I should have And knowing that only makes me upset and mad How can I stand next to you (Stand next to you) And pretend that I feel nothing (That I feel nothing) When I've told you the truth (Told you the truth) And that you are my something (You are my something) Every once in a while I stop and think about you And I wonder if my feelings will ever get through I'm black and blue on the inside with these feelings And I'm beside my bed and upon my knees kneeling I confront myself all the time knowing that I stopped And how my words before they got to you dropped I never talked to you that Spring when I had the chance And that makes me remember that last passing glance How can I stand next to you (Stand next to you) And pretend that I feel nothing (That I feel nothing) When I've told you the truth (Told you the truth) And that you are my something (You are my something) You told me not to worry and you told me not to fret But knowing that I didn't talk to you only makes me regret I didn't talk to you that Spring when I had the chance Now all I can remember is that last passing glance How can I stand next to you (Stand next to you) And pretend that I feel nothing (That I feel nothing) When I've told you the truth (Told you the truth) And that you are my something (You are my something) You are my something Now I'm standing next to you (Standing next to you) And I've finally told the truth (Right beside you) I can't pretend I feel nothing (Standing next to you) Because you are my something (Right beside you)
I can really feel the emotions put into this, with lines like How can I stand next to you And pretend that I feel nothing When I've told you the truth And that you are my something. I don't even think you had to tell me it was meant to be a soft song because I can already feel that when I read it to myself. This is a great song, Will, and I hope someday you're able to record it and show us how it goes.
Thanks a lot man. It means a lot coming from you. Hopefully this summer I can learn guitar and then learn to play stuff acoustically and record it this winter.
Geez Will, this could be rapped, sung, choked on, gargled, anything, and it would still be a good song. Best you have done yet, keep it coming.
