I get why they chose Over Each Other as the poppy "Emily Single", but this song is just SO much more dynamic. My only complaint is the fire gritty beat in the first verse is ever so slightly toned down in the second verse.
I think they should’ve chosen this one as a single instead of Over Each Other. It has a stronger and catchier chorus. Gives me 2010’s pop vibes. Almost as a Miley Cyrus track ngl.
This song is the definition of earworm. Really poppy tune - the chorus is so 2010s - but with some grit. I like.
I'm not a fan of the call-and-response repetitions in the second verse, but this song has one of the best melodies on the record and like the creativity of the first verse, where Mike starts by following the beat, but then proceeds to come out of that "grid" while the instrumental keeps the same breaks. Good track.
I agree that Stained has a stronger chorus but I do think it was important to have an Emily-solo song as a single. Stained does also still deserve to be a single. I get "song of the summer" energy from this one and I think it could be a huge mainstream hit.
I could absolutely be proven wrong, who knows, but I do not get "song of the summer" vibes from this at all. The song felt so cold to me, a bit boring. 40/100
The chorus left a bad taste in my mouth the first time heard it although since then I've enjoyed it more and more and now borderline love it. Someone mentioned that it sounds like SIA and I can totally hear it, although I'm not sure how I feel about that hah.
My second favorite from the album. The sing-rapping from Mike sounds so much more polished here than other tracks and the vocal effect really adds to his delivery. I really love the chorus too. Melodic Emily is doing more for me than Scream Em (which is exactly how I viewed Chester) and she gets to shine here vocally. That last chorus with Mike’s raps interjected is just an ear worm.
I think this is maybe the song on the album where if I didn't know it was Linkin Park, I wouldn't recognize it as such. The chorus is soooo poppy, it feels like I am teleported back to 2009 or something, the TV is on, and there is a new song coming from MTV. Kinda nostalgic vibe in a way. The track is also very reminescent of some of Mike solo work, but with a bigger, more gritty production. Anyway, I really like the song
This song has a real wave-your-arm-from-side-to-side vibe. Definitely going to get that direction from Mike whenever they play this live.
This is the kind of track that I had hoped would come after the things they got out of writing an album like OML. I like it. The big, distorted instrumental is as catchy as the chorus melody. I just hope they do a little more to make any song like this even more unique in the future. Great song with even greater potential in my eyes.
For sure the poppiest moment on the album. So poppy I almost don’t like it but It’s got cool melodies and I dig the production. This walks that thin line of almost being too poppy for my taste but I’ll make an exception
This song is probably standing out for me at the moment. I actually love the call and response in the second verse.
