Your comment on this, Whimsicality? As for me, its kinda sounds like a Republican speech writer, with a message that looks like it may do a good job in changing peoples minds. However, what do you mean by "South Park" Republicans. Do you mean that you should be a Republican because everybody (even the average Joe) is voting for them now (even though they did in 18--)? A party shouldn't depend on stereotypes or popularity to get its vote. Then, with the big sympathy vote by putting in JFK:"An economy hampered by restrictive tax rates will never produce enough revenues to balance our budget-just as it will never produce enough jobs or profits." What the hell is he talking about? Corporations have more money than they know what to do with! The big issue is the distribution of the money, with more and more being siphoned off from the low-middle class. Thats what taxes are for, the redistribution of money. Government programs have long been known to be much more effective than private institutions. The government doesn't need to have a profit (and any profit is reinvested in the public) so its a much better system thats accessible to everyone. And the myth that the Dems are moving 'left' is a huge lie. The Republicans have gone so far to the right, the Dems haven't kept up with them...thats the only thing!
I don't really have a whole lot of an opinion here. I'm just watching with interest. On one hand, I agree that the Republicans Are Rich Men In Suits stereotype is stupid and needs to be done away with. I have friends in poor conservative families and an Uncle who's a rich, liberal Democrat business man. Do either of them fit the stereotypes of their party? No. Do they fiercely believe in their political stance? Yes. I don't think they were saying that everyone should vote Republican because more people are voting Rebublican. I think that they were just trying to, again, dispel the stereotype. To what you said about taxing et cetra, you know more about economics then me, so I really can't comment. But to the Dems. moving left and Reps. moving right thing, I disagree with both of you--I don't think you can pin down who "started" it, I think people have either been getting more extreme in their views or extremists are just be louder then they were before--the animosity between political parties scares me sometimes. It's one thing to disagree with someone's politics and another to persecute them for it.
I think some people are taking this left wing and right wing thing too far. Democratic politics and Republic politics are different, but people are stereotyping too much. Yes, the majority of republicans think a certain way and vice versa with democrats, but not all of them do. Just because John Kennedy had a "republican" view on taxes, doesn't mean he is republican. People have their politics. Don't try to classify everything into two "directions," (left and right.)
