So for the past few days my laptop plays no sounds at all. The sound card works and the drivers are all updated but nothing comes from the internal speakers. When I plug in headphones I get sound but I don't like using them all the time. Anyone know what to do?

I don't quite think the sound card drive is for the internal speaker, only the jack. Can't you plug external speakers into your laptop like you would for a computer? That's what I do, the internal ones usually sound like shit anyways.

Anyways, I'd be thinking it's a motherboard (or would it be chipset? *unsure*) driver that needs replacing.

Have you tried rolling back your drivers?

Sorry I can't be of much help, I'm not much of a hardware tech.

Never fear, that's my job :)

    Goto the device manager:
    windowskey+pause >>hardware>>device manager

Then goto 'sound video and game controllers' and take a screenshot of that dropped down menu for me :)

Open up 'sigmatel high definition audio codec', then goto the driver tab and try to use 'roll back driver'. If it can't find any driver to roll back from, just uninstall the driver and run the 'add hardware' wizard in the control panel and look for drivers on the internet, or search a backup cd that you might have.
