I thought the greatest movie of all-time deserved its own official discussion thread. I saw Snakes On A Plane last night at a midnight showing (well, 10PM) and it was just too much for words. The film was originally going to be made into a PG13 movie, but with the addition of the infamous "I have had it with these motherfucking snakes on this motherfucking plane" phrase, it was upgraded to an R. From there, the director decided to go the extra mile with everything else i nthe film so that it truly deserved the R rating. The death scenes are gruesome, yet hilarious. The dialogue is terrible, yet hilarious. The plotholes are gaping, yet hilarious. Everything about this movie had me and the other 200 people in the theatre laughing our asses off every minute of every scene. You can tell the writers had a field day trying to think up the corniest, cheesiest, most stereotypical lines and interactions possible just to please moviegoers. Will this film with any critics awards? No. But was it entertaining? Hell yes! The sheer ridiculous nature of all the excessive and unnecessary things that happen and are said makes this film one of the best "so bad it's good" movies I have ever seen, and many will agree with me on it. If you want to be entertained and see an action-filled movie with tonnes of unintentional (and some intentional) humour, go see this immediately. I would recommend seeing it in a crowded theatre on opening weekend. Last night, there was clapping, cheering, yelling, hissing, fist-pumping, and paper airplane throwing (complete with gummi worms tucked inside) during the entire movie. Being able to watch a movie and cheer Samuel L. Jackson killing snakes or saying hilarious and classic lines is just the best moviegoing experience ever. Fucking brilliant movie. Go see it before everybody else does and starts quoting it to death, thus ruining it for you.
I can't wait to see it. All my friends are calling me an idiot but I had a feeling it was going to be a good (read: so bad it's good) movie. I told them they're taking it way too seriously and that it was meant to be more of a comedy and stereotypical movie than anything that was meant to win awards.
I'm really looking forward to seeing it, even though I have no idea when it'll be in theatres over here. Nobody even knows about the movie so I'll be one of the first fans over here trying to get my friends to go and watch it with me. I'll have a shitload of explaining to do before we're going to watch but that's okay I guess. I hope Samuel L. Jackson was right about Snakes On A Plane winning the award for Best Movie at the MTV Movie Awards. It would be hilarious to see him win that award.
"I would like to thank those motherfucking snake for being on that motherfucking plane, thank you all for voting" *everyone claps as he walks off stage* yeah i'll be one of the first to see it in England, there isnt really much hype over here, i have only seen that ad for it once on TV and once on the side of a bus. hope it will be hilarous.
I ended up watching this last night with my gf, I havent really followed any of the net hype for this film so didnt know what to expect, some of the deaths scenes where weird yet funny, eg the guy going to the toliet and a snake being in the toliet, ouch!!! overall it was a great film glad I watched it and im sure to buy it when it comes out on dvd
i saw it yesterday and it was better than i thought. the death scenes in the bathroom were hilarious. i will be sure to buy it when it comes out on dvd.
I thought it was a great movie, to be honest. My audience was great. Right when Sam Jackson was about to drop "the line", everybody stood up and said it with him. Seriously like the whole therter did it.
Wow, LPA you've all just convinced me and my buddies to watch it this Sunday. I hope it'll be a crowded theater, darn I should have watched the flick when it premiered.
I watched the movie last night. It wasn't as great as I was hoping it'd be, but it was awesome nonetheless. The death scenes were well thought out and almost all of them made me laugh. Overall, it was a solid movie.
It was pretty good. It only came into it's own once the snakes were released. Up until that point I hated it, even if the dialogue and whatnot was meant to be dodgy. The only gripe I had from there on in was that, in my opinion, David Koechner was disapointing as the copilot. He only had one line that even came close to being funny. I pictured him as being a pretty good obnoxious tourist or something along those lines, but then again there was probably enough humour as it was. Also, it was good to see Kenan Thompson in a decent film for once.
My friends and I were originally going to see Pulse because the theater wouldn't give us tickets to Snakes on a Plane, but we still saw it because, ever so conveniently, there was a show starting about the same time as Pulse, so we went to that one. I must say, that movie was FUCKING AWESOME. Like Mark said, everything was just hilarious. Although I loved it all, I'd have to say the best part is when the flight attendant guy throws the one snake in the microwave. Oh, and everyone in the there cheered at Samuel L. Jackson's 'Motherfucking snakes on this motherfucking plane' line.
Theres also the kiosk trick to get into R rated movies. I took my brother to see Team America a couple years ago, and they wouldn't sell him a ticket because he was under 17. So we walked over to the electronic kiosks, where you can buy tickets, and it gave us tickets no problem. Dumb theaters
