Smells Like Cherries I sit and I stand Looking out the windows Hoping you're there I look and I see The time we've had Through all the years I want you to know That I love you so I can never let go This is my poem In the form of an haiku And it's all for you It does not matter If you are just fictional Or reality You've always been there On the saddest of my days And there you will remain Yeah, I picked up the pen again today And wrote the words that help me get a way And you wiped the tears from off my face Soaking up all my misery You don't have to be Anything you don't want to be You are what you are You were my first love And have stayed with me thus far I want to thank you I'm on the highway Where words mold together And become concrete This is my song In the form of an haiku Yeah, it's all for you Yeah, I picked up the pen again today And wrote the words that help me get a way And you wiped the tears from off my face Soaking up all my misery You can never, ever. No, not ever be replaced You will linger, lurk, loiter, loaf, and hover where you stay Oh sweet gratifying poetry Like a tree, grown within the root of me You don't have to be (structured) Anything you don't want to be (I'm sure) You are what you are ( what you are is what you are) Ode to poetry Oh poetry Oh cherry tree Oh cherry cherry Smells like cherries A verse form of scented imagery Some times I'm so blue Just not in the mood But I'm no fool That I owe all to My ode to Poetry_ Jesse B _ / Gan ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please Comment. (Note from poet below, can skip) Okay, now that you've struggled through that seemingly endless writing let me tell you of what I, myself think of this poem-song. At first when I wrote this it was like "What the hell is this shit? It's horrible. IT'S HORRIBLE." That is the thought that first went into my head. I read it again, (as I advise you to if you're kind of confused to as what it's about) and I then I thought "Wait a second, This is a poem, about a poem. No, this is a LOVE song about a poem. Who writes love songs about poems? I have no idea. But that's what this is, and that makes it unique and different from almost all the other things I've read or written. Actually, to go even deeper it's not a love song about a poem. It's a love song about writing a poem and how I feel while I'm writing the poem, not necessarily after because sometimes when I write I get depressed. This one though, it gave me a weird after taste in the from of a thought that at first I thought was unpleasant and I then one that genuinely liked it. I don't know if you people will like it. Things are messy in the world of poetry but I'm glad you've taken the time to read it all the same. Thank you.
