Some of my cds, like my Yellowcard and Trapt cd, skip when I play them. I'm thinking about just downloading the cds on my computer and burn them because the skipping is really bad. Before I even do that, is there a way to make it stop?

See if one of your friends has a CD doctor thing where you can repair CDs (minus deep scratches)... I have one, but hell if I know how to use it. I've tried it and it never works. lol

Try this at your own risk, but I think I read somewhere that brushing [edit]TOOTHPASTE (NOT PEANUT BUTTER!)over the scratches then rubbing off excess toothpaste fills them and sometimes makes it better. If you can get it good enough to read, rip the CD to .mp3 and then burn it. It feels better ripping a CD then it does to download it.

Thank you to wanton for that toothpaste reminder. Peanut butter is not for cd's, it's for taking bubble gum out of hair  (We were talking about that at lunch)

Since you have bought the CD, you have any legal right to rip or download it.

Yeah, there's some stuff you can get to repair CDs. You'll just have to shop around to find out what works best. Cleaning your CD player from time to time also does wonders, as well.

Oh, and for future reference; if you want to get rid of smudges on your CD, take some toilet paper, dip it into water, and gently rub it on the CD. Then take some dry tiolet paper to wipe off the water. I've done this several times and I've never had any scratches result from it.

I'm pretty sure you can warp the CD doing that... not positive, but pretty sure.

I think that's if you use hot water. Or if you leave it in direct sunlight for too long.

Thankfully, CDs aren't made of wood, and that's why you use cold water.

Yes, I know this, but I'm pretty sure I read in an article that that's one thing you don't want to do. I'll look for it.

Mayonaise(sp?) Spread that on your cd, wipe it off with a papertowel. It will amaze you all scratches except deep gashes will be gone. Ive done this several times.

I never would have thought to put those various food products on a cd and wipe it off. I wonder who thought of that? By putting that stuff on a cd you would think it would do more harm than good. I'll try it though.
