I'm not really sure, I'll email Nick but I'm pretty sure that this means that they are signed with Warner..... I'm kinda dissapointed but I knew it was going to happen but I really hate WB..
They're signed to Machine Shop Recordings...which is Mike Shinoda's label. Machine Shop Recordings is basically Warner though. Get all the info from Will...he knows all about them.
Simplistic isn't signed to Warner Brothers Records. They are, however, signed to Machine Shop Recordings, which gets its material distributed through Warner Brothers. Basically, Machine Shop is the producer, and Warner Brothers is the publishing. It works much in the same way it does in the video game world. It pretty much means that Warner Brothers will support Machine Shop and Simplistic, it doesn't mean that Warner Brothers has actually signed Simplistic. They'll release their 8-song recording under Machine Shop, but Warner Brothers will help distribute it and whatnot. Then they'll begin touring with support from Warner Brothers (i.e. promotions, etc). But, I could be wrong.
I think that's how it works. Let's figure out another scenario: Evanescence makes the music, and it's recorded and all that fun stuff by Wind-Up, and, since Sony owns Wind-Up, it's distributed through Sony. Sounds about right, I guess.
this is directly from the e-mail Nick sent me. "Hey Darin, The contract is being negotiated right now between Machine Shop (Linkin Park's record company) and Warner Bros. But we got word last week that Tom Whalley (president of WB) heard our new 4 song demo and loved it. He wants us to release a short album next year and start touring. We're really excited!! Thanks for your continuing support!! - Nick Simplistic."
