I'm currently on XP Service Pack 2. Here's my system specification:

    Dual Core Processor 2.8GHz
    2.5 GB RAM
ATI Radeon HD 5400 Series GPU

    Will it run smoothly?

Windows 7 is far superior to SP2 in every respect. You really have no reason NOT to.

EDIT: And this is coming from a guy who HATES Windows.

Of course it's superior. I just want to know whether my system will support it.

It will support it with ease, easier than Vista.

Windows 7 is the best iteration of Windows since XP...easily. It could even be the best version of Windows to date. It runs beautifully, rarely crashes and boots up in moments. I'd recommend it highly.

Everything is working fine, except that I don't get any sound in my speakers. I did some research on the net and it looks like I need High Definition Audio Codecs. Anybody else had this problem?

You can download all sorts of codecs for free, can't you?

I downloaded the codecs and I still have the issue. If my soundcard stays enabled, windows freezes randomly and when I try playing an audio file. Been trying to fix it for the past 3 to 4 hours and it's pissing me off!

You need the drivers for your sound card. That should have the codecs.

The original driver isn't Win 7 compatible, so I had to get the right on off the internet. Installed it and everything... and it should work perfectly but whenever I keep the sound card enabled the system freezes. I have to use safe mode to disable it and then run the computer. Ugh, what a major pain this is >_<

    EDIT: PROBLEM FIXED!!!

    Win7 is Win

You can find a Modified Win 7 Lite for computers that are super old .

    Ahhh Windows 7 sounds tempting.
I'll probably go for a Win7 laptop instead of a macbook, especially if there so much cheaper too.

Make sure the sound card driver you have is Win 7 compatible. Or else you might have to go thru some pain fixing the sound like I did.
