It shouldn't matter if the victim "gave his life willingly." He was still murdered, regardless.

Whether or not the *victim* gave up his life willingly, the larger issue should be the mental competence of the suspect.

No one in full possession of their mental capacities is going to be fantasizing about killing and eating people.

I have a feeling that, at the least, he will be confined to a mental health facility for a very long time, if Germany has such a system in place.

    Jeffrey Dahmer anyone?

The victum willingly gave up his life, He wanted to be killed and eatten. It's still pretty freaky what the Killer did.

    If I had to decide.

Mental insituation, and 5-10 years in jail.

Edit: "Don't blame him" Him being the Victim. He knew full well that when He signed up for that, that he wanted to be killed and then consumed. If he didn't, He wouldn't have signed up for it. If someone wanted to be killed, or would commit suicide, and another person wanted to assist him in suicide (Then eat the person with permission). Well, There you go. If It were a case where He just killed a guy, and ate him, recorded it, I'd say lock him up, and also mental insitution.

You "don't blame him," even though he knew full well that he was murdering another individual, regardless of whether he volunteered himself or not?

No offense, dude, but you've got some fucked up views.

God, this man is officially fucked up. Of course he should be convicted! You don't just go fuck with peoples' bodies like that, whatever was the case.

Hang on, hang on, I just looked up this case, and it's been over and done with for several years now. In fact, the article Jesse posted hasn't been updated in more than five years.

    It's cool.

When Jen posted the link to Rammstein's "Mein Teil" video, that's when I actually looked it up.

At first I thought maybe he was just now going through trial.

I kind of agree with what Maverik said, in that it is open to debate as to whether you could really define this as murder, but either way it's pretty justified that he's given a prison sentence and probably has some kind of therapy as well. If you're looking purely at the circumstances of the killing it is basically assisted suicide, although in a lot of courts that would constitute murder anyway.

Yeah, it's hard to judge a case that has no real precedent.
