    Shangri-La

This is what you seek, so many roads you hath sauntered
Through the darkness of the east wood, past pits of despair
Into the Devil’s Mouth, and out you came unaltered

Into a hidden city of lost thoughts that never fade
Huge pillars fly up in sheer defiance of the sky
To which time itself, is defeated by the cities parade

Streaks of gold and silver and jade dance along the ancient walls
Where the ivy grows up upon the Babylon like streets of old
Where rivers run through and sparkle, in a place where love does not fall

Heavens highest seem to have always grace this place
Hero’s that are long forgotten rest in the arms of its embrace
The wealth that men hath squandered, resides in this place that never wastes

The lurid trumpets sound for you as you enter the there-after
Seeing seas of souls and riches untold in the ruby eyed masters
Rain stays distant banished to cities afar, and never do we miss her

Your eternal bliss plays like a symphony of sounds without flaw
Never do you look back, for the wisdom and beauty leave you in awe
Arrived you have, where Fate’s power is all but faint, welcome to Shangri-La
