I think a video like this would have worked better with "No More Sorrow"

Taking a post from the LPU to help explain this video:

I agree with this theory and it makes the entire video make sense.

Best from MTM so far for sure.
I also agree with whoever said Joe needs to let someone else direct the next video. This was not bad and I actually like it a lot but their videos are starting to look alike a bit.

Ha, I completely forgot about the clock by the end of the video. That makes a lot of sense.

Kinda similar to Incubus' Warning video in that regard. I do agree though, it puts the video in a much better context.

It's an awesome vid...but I just wanna see the band more...Chester alone doesn't seem very Linkin Parkish. Part of what was great in From the Inside was the fact that the whole band was in the thing.

    Pros:
    Chester almost nude =]
    Good concept

    Cons:
    No other LP members
    Sound effects a bit annoying

I would say the video gets a B+.

    Bleed It Out is D

    and

    What I've Done is B

The one thing I will say about this song is that they had the chance to make a video in black and white. Notice I don't say this video because it wouldn't suit it well but if I had to come up for an idea, it would've been different from this one and it would have been in black and white. I think it would have been a nice touch since the cover of the album and theme was sort of in black and white.

The theory about the clock makes me appreciate it a little bit more.

All the Linkin Park related facebook groups are raving about how much they like this video.

Looks like we have another winner from Hahn.

For the people complaining about the rest of the band's absence from the vid, I think the concept of it was supposed to focus on the message rather than the musicians. I'm even going as far to say that we're lucky enough to have Chester do the acting.

It's really something we don't expect from a Linkin Park vid. They'd typically have all sorts of stuff visually distracting you from what the actual video is supposed to be about (much like a lot of the movies today), but here you actually concentrate on the story. With Chester watching the news, washing his face, dressing up, and walking down the street, there's a great deal of relateable aspects that shows that the band are just regular people. The irony being what appears to be the apocalypse.

hmmmmmmm. I don't like this vid very much. It has a really cool message about the whole apocalyptic theme of the album but it ranks up the same points as Bleed It Out in my opinion. The whole war theme is similar to From the Inside but i think FTI was a better vid with the whole band playing and the camera shaking effects. Although if the vid had the band playing it would be almost too similar to FTI but I dont care. I like to see the guys perform in vids mainly because they sometimes do crazy stunts like phoenix jumping with his bass in Faint or even chester doing his world famous jump in that same vid, just having good fun in vids. The sound effects we're quite annoying as well and I think it would have been better without it. Also the video didn't really 'match up' with the actually music if you know what I mean. Like when they start a new chorus when Rob crashes the cymbals, you'd expect some thing to happen at that exact moment being a war video an all. But still it's not a bad vid, just not my favorite. What I've Done is still the best MTM video for me. Can't wait to see what they do with Given Up, if that is going to be a single.

I had a gut feeling this would feature Chester solo. Just didn't seem the type of video where the band would need to be included. Shame though.

Chester semi-nude at the beginning was odd, especially because it was for a duration of over a minute. Seemed a bit dull, in my opinion.

However, it picked up when Chester began to walk the streets. So much so, I enjoyed this video a great deal. A fantastic song, a great video. Therefore, I am pleased with the direction this video went in. It fits perfectly to the song, and as Derek stated the theory makes sense with the emphasis on the clock. Came across as great storytelling from Linkin Park. Credit to Joe Hahn, he had his A-Game on for this video after Bleed It Out was a disappointment (for me).

    Cheers LPA for the update.

Overall, I'll give the Shadow of the Day video a 8.5/10.
