I was thinking. They're have been movies about the most serious and scary events such as Titanic and Pearl Harbor. I was thinking that they will probably make 1 or more movie(s) about the Sept 11 attacks. What do you think?
Either one of two things; 1) A patriotic movie (and I hate patriotic movies, but this would be good) about the life of one man who was on the plane that crashed in to the Pennsylvania field. It could be about how he, along with the rest of the passengers, forced the plane down to sacrifice themselves to save everyone else who could've been killed by a fourth plane into a landmark. 2) A thriller about one station of firemen who were called to the world trade centre and who perished while saving lives. Or they could've gotten out. I'm not sure. But wait. Wait for awhile. At least 20 years.
No. they shouldn't make one. Movies=money, and people should not be making money off such a tragic event.
i.e. The Passion of the Christ.
Exactly, alot of people defend it by saying Mel Gibson put $25 Million into it. Well, he made around a $400 Million paycheck for it.
I'm going to throw my two cents into the mix here... 9/11 has already been integrated into several films, one being 'Love Actually', but would it surprise you that the segment is excluded from airplane flights Moreover, a 9/11 pitch was bought by Universal (don't quote me on the studio) about 6 months ago. Since it's a pitch, no one really knows what the story is about and if it will make it the big screen. Replying to Mark, I have to give a thumbs up to Mel, even though he did get quite a nice paycheck, it was a major risk and it paid off. If you don't think people should benefit from tragedy (which I whole-heartedly agree with) write to Steven Spielberg, who pocketed 70 million dollars for Saving Private Ryan. Inevitably, a 9/11 flick will be released, but America needs to move forth before we're stuck in the same place. We've got enough talk about 9/11 as it is without adding a studios opinion into the media. Hollywood will exploit anything, but as long as it's done tastefully (JFK, Malcolm X, Saving Private Ryan) I personally don't have a problem with it, but just give some of it back to the people who went through it. Does anyone else find the notion of a movie of the same thing that destroyed the economy picking it back up funny? I do.
In actual fact, "Saving Private Ryan" was a fictional stroy, put in a factual setting. There was no Private Ryan. Of course, many rescues were made in the second World War, many of them as incredible as this fictional happening, but Spielberg was filming a movie based on a fictional book. So in some ways, he was just filming a book. He did not profit off an actual happening. It's like Peter Jackson and the Lord of the Rings trilogy. A movie about a fictional book. http://www.valourandhorror.com/DB/BACK/Ryan.htm

That's what the "based on a true story" part refers to, not anyone actually named "Ryan."
Right, here comes my aggressive views that I'm bound to be slaughtered for: Is it me, does does America seem to have a knack for profiting off tragedies? I mean just days ago they were plastering pictures of [ex] princess Diana while she was dying - which is sick really if you think about it. Not that I could actually care about it (She's been dead for ages - get over it for god sake). The viewing figures for that show on NBC were off the scale - so I've heard. Figures like that = Money. Because Sep 11th is still very contraversial, it'll attract a lot of people because they love that sort of thing. So they'll profit off that as well. Yeah, sorry if that doesn't make sense, but it's 9:10am so I'm still attempting to wake up. Extreme. Yo.
I reckon they should, could be a great action movie! If they don't I'll make one..but it'll be a tacky home movie with those model planes on strings... :wth:
I Really hope that doesnt happen........ :wth:
Exactly. Look at this way: What if, your friend/mom/dad/whoeveryoulike was in the WTC. He/she died. Then people are going to pay for that movie, just to see how your friend/mom/dad/whoeveryoulike gets killed. But on the other hand, i liked Pearh Harbor so i dont complain any more
The time isn't right. Not everyone is over it, nor will everyone ever. I think they will eventually make a movie about it, but it will be made by a new generation. Just the same as Pearl Harbor and Titanic, they were made years and years after it had happend. But of course, people will think twice before making the step to make a movie about the WTC. It was terrorism, not an accident.
You want to see the 9/11 attacks, go to Kazaa or whatever you uuse, type it in, and watch the planes fly into the building, the people jump out of the windows, the buildings collaps, and everybody gets a paper cut from the documents that were flying around. The 9/11 attacks would be the most stupid movie idea ever...
Whether anyone likes it or not, there is going to be a Sept 11 movie. Why? Because us humans like profitting from things that have happened. Pearl Harbor is an example. The Passion of The Christ is another example. There's just no way of stopping it. Everything that has happened, whether it be a big tradegy such as Sept 11 or one considered small, such as a rape crime, always becomes a movie. I mean, as time passes, people end up thinking, "What type of movie can we make that has never been done before?". Can you guess, after time has passed, what event they plan on doing it on? It may not be today or tomorrow. Hell, it might not even be 20 years from now. But believe me when I say, THERE WILL BE A SEPT 11 MOVIE.
There already was. It was a made for TV movie with a good casting job and script that got a lot of viewers. It showed the turmoil that was going on inside of the white house before and after the attacks and I'm pretty sure its your best bet if you want to see a movie based on 9/11.

Yes, I saw that. 'Homeland Security'. It wasn't very good, and their emphasis of "muslims are bad" wasn't something I enjoyed Replying to Mark again lol: I know Ryan is a fictional story, but he used the setting of WWII, which we know was a true tragedy. So, a film, whether fictious or real about 9/11 is still making money off the tragedy in my opinion. Of course, if I remember correctly, Spielberg made a generous donation to WWII vets so that was a good move on his part.
Try telling all the people that directed movies about wars and stuff like that. I think they should but they should definately wait plenty of years.
