I also didn't see it directed at the future of the band. It feels to me that it's about his insecurities to go out there and get an album out as a solo artist because he had no idea how people would respond to that.
Amazing song. Great collab, love the eerie vibe of that bridge and outro. Gives a really good track that special something that makes it great and keeps me coming back.
Love the track. Tho, I usually don't like collabs. Well.. There hasn't been THAT many rap songs since Lost In The Echo. Burn It Down (bridge part) Lies Greed Misery Victimized Skin To Bone (recharged) I'll Be Gone (recharged) Keys To The Kingdom All For Nothing Wastelands A Line in the Sand (Small part) Good Goodbye Most Post Traumatic songs. But his rap hasn't been banging like this since FM.
Comparing tracks like Running From My Shadow to Welcome really show how much more interesting and inspired Mike's new solo songs are (even though the reasons why they came to be are tragic). Honestly, this album may end up being one of my favorite things Mike has ever made. And that says a lot.
This new song was one of the weakest to me, but I still need to give it some more spins. Even some more spins didn't work so well with About You, but that can be different with this one. Still high expectations for the album, even though almost 50% has already been spoiled.
I'm with Mark on this one, Mike is pretty fire on that song. And imo, it's not that "come at me bro." It's more of a bounce back song. Sure, he is bragging about bouncing back, but the lyrics and flow kinda make up for that.
