I think LP were trying to make a more intimate and rawer bare-bones version of the song with piano just for rhythmic accompaniment.
They have diferent expressions, they can't be compared, man singing and girl singing..., Adele sings it like "honey we could've had it all why you hurt me ?" and Chester sings it like "we coud've had it all bitch but you fucked it up..."
Uhm, actually both versions of the song are saying 'you f-cked up'. Hence the "you're gonna wish you, never had hurt me" line and the "go ahead and sell me out and I'll lay your shit bare/see how I leave with every piece of you, dont underestimate the things that I will do". It's all about a scorned lover out for blood, and daring the one who hurt him/her to give them their worst cause they're gonna regret it. It's a very angry song, no matter who sings it.
Didn't mean the lyrics I was more (meant to) referring to the music. *lols* sorry of the lack of exaggeration its been a long morning.
I love both versions, but I do have to agree in this case that I love Adele's more. It just speaks to me in a more powerful way, and it feels like she actually means what's she's singing. It's like when I listen to In Between, Mikes vocals just sound so HONEST and sincere that it's hard for me to get adjusted to anyone else singing it. Same with Adele's Rolling in the Deep and a few of her other songs.
Adele's sounds more sincere because those are the demo vocals. The story goes that she had just broken up with her then boyfriend and was so furious that her heart was beating out of her chest. She told the producer of the song to feel her heartbeat, and from there the drum beat was created. The song came together that day, and although the vocals went through several takes, they decided to stick with the demo as no other could match the intensity of the original demo take (which she did while still under stress from the breakup).
Yep, that is just such a heartbreaking yet amazing story. Again, it...speaks to me. haha I really do love Adele, favorite songs Rumor Has It Don't You Remember Turning Tables Daydreamer First Love Rolling in the Deep well, erm. fuck, I love all of her songs.
I love that song, but I just can't get over the fact of somehow setting fire to rain. Yes, it's a metaphor but still.. you can't... haha
Someone Like You is my favourite song by her. Simple but the line "Nevermind I'll find someone like you" really gets to me.
I prefer LP's. Great song by Adele but Chester brought a raw emotion to it I didn't feel in the original.
Yeah, it seems like a long shot to me, lol. Like, what happened? "Baby, I want to break up with you, this isn't working out...", Adelle then storms off from wherever this was, drives like a fucking maniac to the recording studio, makes her producer feel her chest, wrote and recorded the vocals whilst still raging out, producer was like "Duuude, we can use your heartbeat as like... the drums, ya'know? to convey the intensity and emotion you're going through right now!". Song finished. Winner. There's no doubt she probably wrote it in relation to a breakup but it probably didn't happen so quickly in the space of like a day, haha.
