I'm also one of the 45 fans. If, through people posting in this thread, that we found out there are more, well I'll be damned, we're growing in popularity!
The first was the best, second was rubbish dont know what you think of the 3rd by that trailer it just doesnt feel/look like the Resident Evil games I know and love
I think the third one is going to be the best movie yet. I like how they changed the setting so drastically so that it seems like their future. I think it'd be a bit boring if all they did was recreate the video game.
SWEET new Re Movie, i know the first 2 movies sort of went off story just a little, (like showing no mansion in woods) but i still liked them
at least they could have tried to catch the ATMOSPHERE and the FEELING of any resident evil game instead of producing such trash. it's a shame what we call a "resident evil movie". silent hill is the perfect example of how a movie based on a game should look like. it's a totally new story with all attributes of the game series. it even features the original music which contributes a lot of atmosphere to the actual movie.
Hey, there's a reason why the RE movies don't have the same atmosphere and feeling of the RE games. Because even the makers of the GAMES realized that stylistically and gameplay-wise, the Resident Evil games were going out of style. Hence the new approach taken in RE4, and conversely, the movies. Silent Hill is a perfect example of a movie based on a game that is actually SCARY. If you were to make a movie based COMPLETELY on the original RE games, it would suck. You know why? Because while Silent Hill has the atmosphere that would translate well to an eerie movie, Resident Evil does not. Can you imagine a movie of: Main character walks around shooting zombies. Main character picks up emblem. Main character inserts emblem into fireplace. Repeat until all slots above fireplace are filled. Go on to the next area. Whilst Silent Hill is already SCARY, early RE games were more of the BOO! ZOMBIES! variety of scary. There wasn't anything psychological. The most prominent thing about the RE games were the zombies. Sooo, obviously the movies should emphasize the action against zombies. And in this case, the RE movies are pretty faithful. Silent Hill was a great movie, I won't deny that. But then again, I thought it was a great movie since I had already played the games. For those who hadn't played the games (of which several of my friends fall into that category), it's a hit and miss. Some will find the horror and mysterious story appealing, while others simple will be bored and/or disgusted. When I look at the Resident Evil movies, I don't take the game and movie side-by-side and make comparisons, and judge the movie based on the comparisons. The movies are a separate entity, and as such, what more could you ask for? Zombies, guns, action, comedy (RE1: 'I wanna get laid' RE2: 'GRAND THEFT AUTO, MOTHERFUCKERS!'), it's an entertaining set of films.
Awesome movies, can't wait to see this either. There are way too much brilliant movies released this year.
Oh, yay, a new RE movie! I really liked the previous two, can't wait to see what's in store for this one (I've never played the game so I have no idea).
RE captures the same old "zombies attacking people" story which to me is almost irritating now. The first movie was decent, but I wasn't happy with the sequel and I really am not looking forward to this.
