Hey I'm going to Best Buy today (hopefully) to buy PANIC! At The Disco's CD (fuck you, they're good), and I figured...it's pointless to go there just for one CD so I felt i'd ask some of you very musically inclined LPAers for some advice on what bands to listen to.

I currently have Coldplay, Linkin Park, P!ATD, 30 Seconds to Mars in heavy rotation right now..but I'm looking for something new.

(If you don't have them yet)

I recommend both Billy Talent CD's (S/T and BT II). Both amazing records. You have to get used to the guy's voice but once you do...awesome

Billy Talent has a song on the Burnout Legends' soundtrack and that's pretty good. Which CD is better, their first or second?

Well if you can afford both, get both. But if you can only pick one right now, I would get the self-titled one. II is a good record, but I like the self-titled better.

rich dude eh??Well if you want to listen to some metal then i would recommend Iron Maiden's Brave New World.Unlike other metal albums its not total noise there are plenty of melodious parts as Bruce Dickinson doesn't have this typical metal growling voice

Not rich so much as...I dont spend a lot, so anything I get from work just piles up lol.

If I had the spending habits of my brother I'd probably be digging for pennies.

The Fall of Troy's Self Titled and Doppelganger are amazing records. Self Titled is lowered in studio quality.

But the screaming might displeasure you Derek. So it might take some time to get used to. But if you want to listen to this band, start with F.C.P.R.E.M.I.X than to Act One, Scene One and then to Whacko Jacko Steals the Elephant Mans Bones and so far and so fourth.

I recommend System of a Down (I think there older stuff is better, specifically S/T and Toxicity), KoRn, and Metallica for some hard rock. And like everyone else is telling you here, get the Billy Talent CD's.

Thing is..it's hard to describe. I hate screaming, yet I like it. Screaming like Trivium, Killswitch Engage and Linkin Park I like, whereas screaming like in Death Metal and (most) screamo, I hate.

So there's a real fine line as to what screaming I can tolerate.

Hmm, well you can always go with At The Drive-In. They're what real emo should be. Go to there Myspace and listen to Chanbara and Metronome Arthritis.

    Maybe Radiohead?

If so, I'd recommend The Bends and/or OK Computer, first. Then if you like those, try Kid A, Amnesiac and the rest. :)

*EDIT* Radiohead are pretty good. "No Surprises" is a nice song.

Radiohead is just toooo goood !!!! Well, as long as screaming is concerned i wud recommend u Atreyu's new album, A Death-Grip On Yesterday..but i dunno as to how much u can tolerate it, they r kinda like trivium only their lyrics r better i guess. However, according to me, AFI's Decemberunderground is one of the best albums of 2006..although a lotta ppl think otherwise...All in all...its ur money...:D:D

    ^_^

    Try Dredg's "Catch Without Arms".
It's very melodic and pretty calm, but explodes on certain tracks. It's great.

Or "White Blood Cells" by The White Stripes, although people generally either love or hate The White Stripes. I'm not sure where you're at on that one.

Boys Night Out's Trainwreck is pretty much amazing too. It's screamy, but not constantly.

and the newest Underoath album is alright too.

if you're looking to go a little.. weirder, let me know, and i'll have a whole new list.
