I've seen this on some other message boards and I think it's a really good idea.

    I'll start.

if u like rap.. id suggest talib kweli.. specifically his older material.. i believe he's jay-z's favorite rapper.. if thats any incentive..
as far as rock goes.. i heard a local band in iowa called index case.. i think their music live is 1000 times better than on the albums.. they remind me of story of the year.. but im not very experienced in the punk/rock/whatever category that stuffs in..

    Motion City Soundtrack
    MCS on Purevolume

These guys are a lot of fun and put on a mother fucking kick ass live show. If you like happy tunes you sing out loud while driving in the summer time with the windows down, I'd give these guys a listen.

    Band: Broken Image

    Genre: Emo/Rock/Screamo

Songs worth listening to: Armor of Hope, The Distance that Killed us, Part of Me, Righ Before Forever.

They're a local band in the town where I live. They're pretty good, everyone at my school really likes them. I saw them several times and they're kinda close friends of mine. They're pretty good, I'd suggest buying their newest cd..

The lead singer's livejournal if you're interested in looking at it is here.

    Arizing

A band out of Michigan, Around Frankenmuth. They're fucking awesome and I recommend anything that they put out. I'm pretty good friends with the vocalist's sister. theprp.com has reviewed their demos and their CD and they haven't gotten less than a 3/5 whereas theprp gives a lot of CDs under 3s.
