Well, there was a thread about this for LT, full of crying and not believing it'll top the chart, so it's only fair RECHARGED gets one too. Katy Perry releases Prism on October 22, that could easily top the chart for 2 weeks. Arcade Fire and Kelly Clarkson both drop on October 29, same day as LP. So, where could RECHARGED debut? And I think it might fall off easily. Eminem and Avril Lavinge drop November 5, Katy Perry will still be selling, then Lady Gaga...
Be surprised if it even makes that. I got so excited for this as I quickly assumed they were all done by Mike and "friends" like reanimation. Now its just other people remixing, I see this as a cash opportunity. I long for a remix album that is done by LP and friends but picks around 3-4 songs from each album they have done and reimagine them. That would be so sexy.
It'll debut SOMEWHERE in the top 200. It's not uncommon for the bottom portion of the Billboard 200 to not even eclipse 10,000 copies a week these days. Recharged will obviously do better than that...I'd say it'll do 50,000 its first week and debut somewhere around #20. It'll fall off VERY quickly though. Don't be surprised if this is the first major release by LP that fails to go Gold.
Wikipedia says Recharged debuted #10 on US, #12 UK, #20 Hungary, #41 Ireland and #33 Spain This is pretty bad, isn't it?
It's actually very good for what was essentially a "Well here's some shit we had laying around and we were like, fuck it put it on a CD". I was actually surprised to find out it was being released as an actual album and not some iTunes bonus thing so the fact that a (very bad) remix album of two + year old music with one new song hit number 10 is actually very, very impressive.
That's actually better than I expected. It's not bad at all for a REMIX album to debut top 10 in the US. I loved the album, it's nice to see it got at least some numbers to it.
