What books are you reading? Elaborate on them a little bit and tell us why you'd recommend them. Right now, I'm reading the Halo trilogy. They're such intense and amazing books. The use of military vocabulary is really awesome, and the authors are great at painting pictures of where the battles and action are taking place. You don't even have to have played the game to love the books. They're just good.
Wow that was fast. I'm starting to read War And Peace. Wish me good luck someone. Probaly the best book ever(from what I've heard)It's basicly set during the Napolanic war. More details when I'm done. If I ever finish.
Book One - Stupid White Men And Other Sorry Excuses For The State Of The Nation. (Michael Moore, 2002) I decided to buy this after seeing Fahrenheit 9/11. This book was very eye-opening. First Moore explains in high detail how Bush rigged the Florida vote which made him win the 2000 election. He later on branches off against democrats and republicans, and shows why Bush has been a terrible president. Such things include pulling out of the Kyoto Protocol to decrease greenhouse gases in our environments, and his administrations ties to corporate america, and giving tax cuts to the rich 1% of the US while middle and lower class citizens suffered. He shows how the US is run by big corporations, and how the Bush administration is corrupt. Book Two - Dude Where's My Country? (Michael Moore, 2003) I was so impressed with Michael Moore's witty style of writing, and his ballsy attitude that I bought his next book, "Dude, Where's My Country". This book causes many to question what really happened on September 11th, and calls out Bush on his invasion of Iraq. He also links Bush and his administration to oil companies and further exploits their quest for oil. Many say Moore is not a journalist, but he has pages upon pages of references in the back of his books. Book Three - The Bourne Identity (Robert Ludlum, 1984) I bought this book because of my love for both Bourne movies. I was surprised how mcuh the movie deviated away from the book, and quite frankly, I like the book more. There's many more interesting events and action sequences. Ludlum is a great writer, very descriptive. I'd give a 10/10 to all of these books and highly recommend them. Also, Alias: Vanished and Alias: Father Figure. A little soap-opery. 7.5/10.
*copy and pastes what I had in the other thread* I am currently reading "The Boy Who Went Away" by Eli Gottlieb (1997) It's about this 14 year old boy who is confused about the world and witnesses his mom's affair and his dad drinking too much. It's basically a coming of age story. It's pretty good so far but I'm not finished with it yet.
My second time around reading Catch-22. I would recommend it to everyone, it's hilarious in a really dark way. I mean, the diaglogue is priceless and the whole book is hilariously ridiculous. It totally makes society look like a fool. Yossarian rocks.
Being the big Spidey fan that I am, I've been collecting as many Spider-Man novels that I could find for years but they're hard to find at the bookstores at the malls I go to. Currently I'm reading Spider-Man: The Octopus Agenda. These novels are written more for adults in case anyone thinks I'm reading books for kids.
I read the Lord of the Rings (plus The Hobbit) not too long ago and now Im working on The Silmarillion and other Tolkien books. Most of them are just reference books but Silmarillion is basically a history of the elves.
I'm currently reading Girl with a pearl earring, the book that inspired the movie and it's nice. Not a fantastic book but it's nice. And I'll probably re-read The talisman and Black House of Stephen King and Peter Straub.
I'm currently reading "The Ballad of Sir Dinadan" by Gerald Morris. It's an Arthurian fiction novel, and I love anything Arthurian or any kind of fantasy or historical fiction. So far it's really good, I've read his other books and they're all really funny and very interesting.
at the moment im reading the manga (japanese comics) Demon Diary. its quite goos so far i give it about a 7/10. Im about to start reading "the Lone Drow" by R. A Salvatore. It is the second book in a series, the first being "a Thousand Orcs". It is a fantasy book set in the forgotten realms. (where the pc games Baulders gate and Neverwinter Nights and Icewind Dale are set) I recommend R A Salvatore's work to any fan of fantasy. His books have such detailed action and interesting characters. The main character in his forgotten realms books is a dark elf called Drizzt Do'Urden who forsakes his heritage to live on the surface and become a ranger. yeah so i give the R A Salvaotre books a 9/10
Being the Harry Potter fan that I am... This summer I started reading The Order of the Phoenix for the second time. Then I started with the first one, the second and now I'm reading the thirth book. I've read those books so many times I lost count. And they never get boring! And a few months ago I started in The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring... But I couldn't get into the story ... But I love the movie and I KNOW the books are good. So when I feel like it I'll try reading it again.
Right now I'm reading Lily's Crossing for summer reading and it sucks. Don't read it. I would recommend any Artemis Fowl book. If you like action and fantasy check it out. Artemis Fowl novels also have some humor in them which is always a plus.
I'm reading Warlock from Wilbur Smith right now. Smith is not the best writer. I just started reading it, so I let you know how it was later.
One of my favorite books is Go Ask Alice. I really liked this book. Book Description: Amazon.com If you head over to Amazon.com they let you read the first couple of pages from the book. Have any of you read Go Ask Alice? What did you think? What other books would you recommend me that are similar to this one?
fight club. 10/10 except it changes a lot from first person to second person because of the whole weird tyler durden thing. it gets kind of confusing.
I'm reading Philip Pullman's "His Dark Materials" trilogy. It's about a war on God. It's also very confusing and deals with parallel universes, dark matter, and the separation of body and spirit,
Oook, i stopped reading Warlock of Wilbur Smith cause it was so boring. Don't read that book i would say. Now i just started in Weaveworld of Clive Barker. I already know a bit of the book. Cool book.
Philip Pullman is awesome. My favorite in the series was The Subtle Knife. Come to think about it, I think they should make movies for that whole series.
