...what qualities make you really, really look up to a person? Whether it's someone you know personally or some celebrity, what actually makes you idolize/admire aperson or feel that s/he has really made a difference? * Just curious.
I look up to a person based on their personality, and what they have done to be where they are. Someone who is really generous and helpful to those around him / her is someone I would look up to because of their admirable personality. Also, in the situation of musical celebrities, I would look up to them due to their talents and personality. For example. I look up to Mike Shinoda because not only is he a nice person with a good sense of humor, but also because he's very multi-talented and because he makes great music. I just look for qualities. I can't look up to someone, for example, who has beat someone up in their life time, or has a history of saying rude things and not doing the occasional favor every now and then.
I look up to someone who s strong and can follow their own path in life without allowing someone to stray them. Also, someone who is charismatic and a great speaker/debater can also grab some of my admiration.
Charisma. Looks don't matter much but I want to look up to some one who is a some one. Not superficially, nor do they need to be popular but as long as I can relate to them. Why do you ask Meghna?
I think people who are trying to make a difference by doing everything they possible can, are people I look up too. But also people who have a special talent, like so many skaters look up to Tony Hawk for example. Charisma is definetely an important factor to make that all believable. Because if those people are doing it just to make themselves look better, I'd never look up to them.
Well, I was just really interested in knowing how people judge other people. Like, in a way I guess I'm wondering how others think of people. Basically more like a mind exersize, and I'm just interested in finding out more. . Thanks a lot for replying, everyone. I guess I admire anyone who can take even a few minutes of their day to help someone as cheerfully as possible. And someone who doesnt compromise on their principals no matter what. I guess that's what I too, wanna be.
The number one thing that would make me look up to someone, even my own age, is how they treat others around them. How they handle situations, how fair they are to another person, just overall how they compose themselves and decide to go about being a decent person. I've got one friend in particular who fulfills those traits, and for someone who is only 2 months older than me, my respect for him is paramount.
Quite true. If a person can stand up for himself or his friends it makes me look up to them. However if someone has done something remarkable, and knows it and shows that he knows it makes him/her ugly. I love people who are passionate about what they do. Age doesn't have anything to do with me looking up to people. Neither does wealth. I look up to a couple of people here too.
Sincerity and integrity. Other than that I'd say pretty much everything that's already been mentioned.
