I'm not talking about bass lines that could be changed, I'm talking about moments in their discography that might benefit from some cool bass lines. Like I wouldn't expect a crazy bass line in the middle of rebellion for example, but they have lots of calmer, atmospheric moments that I could see it working in.

I think it would've been cool if the little phrase before the bridge explodes in "Given Up" was played on bass rather than gtr

I guess since the tour's over, we're entering once again into the slow post-LP burnout stage again haha

No. We've gone straight into the early LP7 hype phase.

Lol I wouldn't say that he wrote great bass lines in those songs. Certainly better than what he writes with LP, but far from great.

I haven't been as up-to-date with my LP news, but I'd be willing the bet they'll be pushing another spring release for the next album. There's little reason to believe they would wait longer. The only reasons for a delay would be Chester with STP or Mike doing a Fort Minor sequel, but it seems unlikely. How do you feel about that? Do you think it's better for them to re-gas after tours and take their time (ala Minutes / Suns) or stick to "keeping the creative juices flowing" (ala Living Things / Hunting Party)?

I think it's better for them to take a rest for a while, think something creative, something unconventional for the band. A proper sequel to ATS, a much better dynamics and weird song structures. I know they can pull it off, it's just a matter of time.

I agree. Just taking an extra year longer could probably do wonders for the band creatively.

That only means they're going to do the exact opposite.

I'm thinking late summer release at the earliest. The idea of The Hunting Party began to surface in August of 2013, so 10 months before the release of the album. The band was already in the studio then. Now, the band won't be entering the studio before October/November, and they've spent the summer touring, prior to that Mike did all the FM stuff, and now he seems to be working on an art project. Seems like the band isn't rushing it out that much this time. I've made a bet that the album won't release until 2017, but that's more of a dream than something I really believe in. The bands best work really comes if they take their time with it. Plus, I want to want new Linkin Park music. I don't really need it right now. The band put out so much music in 2014 that I'm fine for the next couple of years.

And as much as I don't care about STP, I want them to release that album. Back when Chester joined the band, he said something I still remember word for word. He said "We're gonna make new music, we're gonna make lots of it." Bull-fucking-shit, Chester. In the 2 years and 4 months with him in the band they have released 5 songs, spanning 15 minutes of music all together. Of the 5 songs, they don't play a single one live right now. So much for "reinventing" Stone Temple Pilots. They've been in the studio on and off again since January, are you seriously gonna tell me you can't bring one new song in the set, or release it? What happened to "we're gonna release new songs whenever we feel like it"? Do you never "feel like it"?

TL;DR: Side projects, art projects, taking their time is what makes a truly great Linkin Park album, or at least it has in the past. Right now, they seem to be doing all of that, which should be great - but they're really not doing anything much with it. Mike put out a FM song, not a FM album. He did some FM shows, not a FM tour. He put some colors on the Berlin Wall, he didn't do an exhibition. Chester joined a good band, they haven't done anything slightly interesting in two years.

TL;DR;TL;DR: Stop half assing this other shit.

I dont have the hope that they will release another great album. Dunno. I mean, basically , LP is a rock-band. But with a guitarist, who doesnt fell in love with the thing he do (obviously) and always jumping from one thing to another, i doubt there will be a great album. And dont let us forget a bassist, who isnt even noticable most of the time. I am worried. Perfection need time, and i doubt they can master another "new" genre (who knows what we can expect) in like 8-10 months. I want new LP songs sure, but i cant think about anything great tbh.

I for one could care less if any guitar is on the next album. I go through my music library each day and so many songs are formed around really mediocre and boring guitar riffs that I get sick of hearing guitar-driven songs. Let Brad do what he wants, I say, so long as he does it well. I'm sick of skipping through my library because every song starts some mundane power chord riff.
