For some reason I can't stop thinking that Mike is pretty much laughing about whats happening right now.
Here's a clip of Chester performing "In the End" with rapper/comedian Awkwafina as part of Comedy Central's Comedy Jam:
- Mike's favorite song on OML is Nobody Can Save Me - Mike only raps on one song (Good Goodbye). - And he only sing lead on Invisible & Sorry for Now. - Kiiara, Stromzy & Pusha T are the only vocal collaboration.
Well damn. Was really hoping we'd get more of his singing than the same aforementioned songs by Chester. Definitely still the most interested in those.
if a song of OML end up sounding like this I would be the happiest guy on earth for quite a long time
It's a "LP songs that are closest sounding to OML songs" playlist, but I'll be curious to see if anything on OML really does sound that much like these. Melodically/lyrically sure, but the soundscape seems like it's gonna be pretty different. If he had posted this playlist before we got any music, I'd be so hype. WFTE, My December, Breaking the Habit, and LOATR are exactly the tracks I've been pointing at as types of songs I'd like to see LP make more of, but Heavy/BS don't quite fit the bill for me. Not that I don't love the new tracks, but the standard structure, mixing, and sounds of Battle Symphony and Heavy are not the same as the huge, guitar + strings sound of LOATR, or the cool grimy soft sound of My December, etc. I guess what I'm saying is that I hope the texture of the new album isn't all shiny synths, snaps, and drums, and that there's tons of instrumental variety to be found. Heavy and Battle Symphony are tearing up the Spotify play counts, that's pretty awesome after seeing how THP/LT barely changed their top 10 tracks.
This is basically just a compilation of their poppiest singles, supplemented with some mellow album tracks. Not sure this is what I want for OML. But we'll see.
Anybody know how "believeable" the ASCAP listing is? cause according to it both Nobody Can Save Me and battle Symphony were written by the entire band+ the writer(s) for the song. But according to Genius BS was only written by Brad and Mike+Jon Green
Really curious to see what Stormzy brings to Good Goodbye. Its just hard for me to imagine what he'd sound like on an LP album, especially one with such poppy singles as Battle Symphony and Heavy. He ain't half bad though, for someone who isn't that much into hip-hop. Also, now that the connection has been made, if Mike were to make another Fort Minor record, he always has Stormzy to have on the record...
Woah, I just watched the LITE mv on youtube for the first time in forever, if I've even ever seen that version. I liked it a lot more than I remember, and also I realized that the FB version made absolutely no sense when in the real version it's their faces on the pictures. I thought I remember the real version just having random people not in the videos on the pictures. I guess I'm growing up and finally getting their vision with that vid haha
This song is released in full with a few more songs that sound like this on the Oficial Mall soundtrack.
I liked the idea behind that. Doesnt change the fact, as you said, that they destroyed almost everthing with it
