I hope you've since heard the recording of the "Step Up/Nobody's Listening/It's Goin' Down" medley from the 2004 LPU CD I would say that my mind exploded after hearing that for the first time
Yeah, I remember how uncertain LP's future was after their brief fallout with WB. Then Mike making his own hip hop album and after that announcing Rick Rubin as LP's next producer. Not to mention that they did an EP with Jay Z right after Meteora was done being promoted. This all happened between 2004-2006. "Uncertain" is an understatement.
It was funny rumors (i don't know if this was real) saying they had a 10-album contract with WB and people wanting they to release a bunch of remix albums just to get rid of this contract. Until ATS it was very clear they had so much pressure from the label, but right now it seems a much more light relation.
Oh definitely. I know I'm being a greedy bastard but an exclusive song would be fantastic. What we have so far is pretty amazing though. I was expecting just one day celebration but A WHOLE WEEK?! WHEW!
I came across this today: There was also a video of him singing another song at this event, but I can't find it anymore...
My headphones recently broke, and I was finally want to get ones that last a while, I remembered that Mike posted some Sony headphones he had for around 15 years, what model are they? http://mikeshinoda.com/2011/04/22/my-old-headphones/
MDR-7506's. Obviously a much older version of them but other than than some cosmetic differences they've pretty much been an unchanged industry standard for entry-level reference headphones for the last two decades (comparable to the Audio Technica ATH-M50's, for example). I have a pair of them myself.
I miss Mike updating his blog but I guess it's not much use with Snapchat and Instagram now. Those two social media apps don't have the depth of his blog though.
Awesome! Thanks Astat! Just ordered a pair, hopefully these last me as long as Mikes did, I seem to have bad luck with headphones
I was thinking right now... just a comparison: Imagine that LP released it's last album in 2013, around march. It's 3 and a half years from today, withouth almost anything new heard from the band. Now, imagine that the next album will only be dropped around may 2017. That's the delay between Meteora and MTM. It's a pretty long time being on the darkness, waiting. Damn.
