I've not realised till now how many mind-numbingly shite threads there are in Random Chat. Everyone should be a bit creative and post more threads. Instead of posting something perhaps worth discussing in Random Thoughts, make a fecking thread. And don't subject me to thinking "Who cares what I'm eating or drinking, or what I'm about to do". I know i've not exactly done this, but i'll be starting now if this thread gets relatively positive reviews. My 2 cents. Much Love, Cale.
Try as hard as you want, it ain't going to happen. Yes, I've tried many a time. This is one of the reasons why a split between serious/random chat was made in the first place. we hoped that by splitting the daft threads (Got something to let out/Random thoughts/what are you listening to etc), that it'd make room for more...variety of thread. Nope. Keep trying though. First step to change is by taking action yourself.
Usually general discussion threads die down too quickly, which is why not very many are made. That's how it's always been here, quite frankly.
Mmyeah, general threads never last long. And from what I remember, nor do 'topics' in Random Thoughts either. So either way...
We used to have some nice threads. We used to have a quiz if I remember correctly, that was pretty fun.
Then why not re-invent them. Seriously. Go for it. Give one of the mor active staffers a heads up and they should look after it? Me? Well, I usually only make myself known when I need to.
Actual lengthy discussion? Probably just result in fighting and warnings EDIT: Not that I wouldn't like to see it happen Cale.
Not at all. In fact, that's the main occasion when you'll see me about. Just know where the line is, that's all the rest of the team want. I just watch and wait for unsuspecting prey. How this relates to breathing life into Random Chat confuses me slightly, but go ahead.
The "Eat/Drink" and "What are you about to do?" threads are by far the shittest thing I've ever seen someone do while sober. Apologies to whoever made them. We all have brain melts sometimes. I've been known to have a few even. Can you imagine that?
I actually made that post before I made the other thread. Look at my posts in Random Thoughts if you'd like to see my biterness. Or perhaps it is justified frustration? You be the judge. A little part of me dies every time I come here and the only threads that have been posted in are Random Thoughts, What song are You Listening to, What are you eating, what are you about to do, what album are you listening to, word association, and whatever other bollocks goes on in there. We're not governed by thought police. So why does everything have to be so brainless?
It's good to see the US election thread actually being used though. But yea, I'm with Cale on all this...
Well...alot of people who are coming on here, are here to have some fun and to relax a little. It's named Random Chat. If you want to talk about less brainless stuff, there's always Serious Chat.
I wouldn't wanna see the brainless shit gone. But yea, threads for chatting about actual topics would be good. Not that I'm much use at coming up with topics... but you get my drift.
I'm certainly not against fun, but other than Random Thoughts, i can't see the appeal. Is it actually fun clicking down the threads typing: "Pepsi and a biscuit" "Jeff Buckley - Sweet Thing" "I'm about to go bake a cake" "Spoons" Really seems like a waste of time and people's imagination. All i'm suggesting is perhaps cut down on the mind-numbing stuff, and integrate more discussions about life in general. If you hate supermarkets. Go out on a limb and post a thread. If it's a spectacular day outside. Make a thread. If you jumped in a pool and your phone's fucked. Make a thread. If you got a shit report card. Make a thread. If you hate your job. Make a thread. If you think bottled waters a fucking scam. Make a thread. People integrating, people getting to know each other better. It's a lovely thing.
I believe there were times people actually posted that stuff, but it always got closed. I think that's because there's not alot of things you can say about it other then 'yeah, it is lovely weather', or 'oh, that sucks'. You know?
