Makes sense. Seeing as they didn't have to pay for marketing or anything like that, I'm sure they'll pocket most of it themselves. Note to bands out there... you treat your fans right, they'll treat you right as well. I'll bet their old record label is crying themselves to sleep right about now.
That's awesome When you have the option to pay whatever you like, you're gonna get a lot more customers There's a restaurant close to where I live that follows this. You pay how much the meal is worth, so you could pay nothing if you really wanted to but most people have a conscience and pay. My dad ended up paying like $15-$20 for soup or something
Haha, you serious? They're pretty much feeding the population of homeless people if they do that. Nice work radiohead *thumbs up*. Is this heeps more than what most bands that don't do this get?
Fuck me. So the plan for the future with many bands will be: Sign onto a major record label. Get famous, sell alot of records. Drop the label when the contract is over. Sell future records yourself over the internet and make a shitload more than you ever would before.
Like they'd need any more money after selling a lot of records and being famous... Still this is great news.
Hopefully in the future bands will be able to skip the first 3 steps you listed and go straight to #4.
The greedyness of some knows no bounds! The fact that i'm paying $110 to see RATM, payed $160 to see Chili Peppers, speaks volumes. It's a bloody farce. I don't know how much bands have a say in it. But compared to a $65 Green Day ticket at the same venue as RHCP, someones hiking the prices up.
Wow, and I thought $150 for Iron Maiden was really high. I can't believe that Chili Peppers costs that much. I would be pissed
