After deleting most of their social media posts and giving out unusual flyers with "Burn the Witch" in them, Radiohead has unveiled its new single "Burn the Witch" from their upcoming ninth studio album. They will be touring around the world starting May.
http://citizeninsane.eu/burnthewitch.html The lyrics have been around since 2003. 10 years ago Thom teased the song live https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uejn1f6pqMQ. ''When we get the orchestra we'll do Burn The Witch''. This song's been around for a long time, Radiohead work on songs for years and years until they find them perfect, Nude for example. I love this approach that they do.
So they're basically like singer-songwriters have always been. Not hating on Radiohead, but I find it amusing how everyone is acting like what Radiohead is doing is so new and different when so many artists have been doing the same thing for years. /wanders off to continue listening to Burn The Witch.
The last minute is amazing, it gets so hectic. The strings! This is on the album, Lift is on the album, no doubt this will be my AOTY. I can't think of many music artists where I like as many of their songs as I do Radiohead. If the release is like TKOL, the album could be released as soon as friday or maybe earlier. Though I'm not sure if a physical copy will be available right away, which I really want, but in that case I'll just get the digital download off their website or however they release it. I really want a special edition with an art booklet. Maybe I'll just double dip then.
Wow this sounds brilliant. (tbh I didn't expect anything less) The strings are outstanding. Now I'm really looking forward to the full length.
I like the song. It's doesn't sound different from anything on King of Limbs but it's still a good tune. I had to ignore the video to really immerse myself into the song. But the video is really cool.
I guess I was just always used to how Linkin Park did it, new material every time and the old stuff ends up being unreleased demos.
Not actually true! We have proof that several demos were reworked and put on later albums. For instance, I'll Be Gone's earliest form (that we know of) was done during the ATS era.
Man, chilling with this track when it's all blue and shiny outside really makes for an experience. Maybe I'm influenced too much by the music video
As someone who's a casual Radiohead listener, I'm not blown away by the song. The strings sound good and overall its alright track.
