Recently i broke my Sandisk Sansa E270 6 gig MP3 player, the screen got stepped on and and was ruined so my dad got me a 4 gig iPod Nano and i have questions based off complaints my friends have had with theirs with iTunes, when you hook up your iPod, and you add something new to the library and you "update" your iPod..if you took something out of the library will it also take it off your iPod? or can you add songs manually to the iPod and remove them manually also, like a Drag and drop feature ( i prefer this) and how are battery life on Nano's ?
thank apple...thats the biggest thing i was worrying about EDIT: ok i havent got the iPod yet but im looking through iTunes Settings and cant find how to manually drag and drop songs without it hooking up first and trying to add everything if someone can explain how to do it ?
Step 1. Open iTunes Step 2. Drag & Drop music into iTunes Step 3. Watch as iTunes sorts it for you Step 4. Rearrange anything if you want, but make sure all your music you want on your iPod is in iTunes. Step 5. Plug in iPod and watch as it transfers it all Easy.
so start out with nothing in the library hook the iPod up and add songs as you go...wow what happens when your Drive gets wiped..thats gotta suck
No, you can add songs anytime you want. You need to do it beforehand though, then plug in the iPod and it'll update them all at once. It doesn't take long and it doesn't suck, it's very very easy.
When you connect your iPod, you have the option of adding songs manually or having the iPod sync automatically and add the songs that it doesn't have. I, personally, use the manual way, that way I know what is and what isnt on my iPod.
Just use the manual way because if you select for the library to do it automatic, then everytime you plug in your iPod, it will sync all these new songs from the library whether you want that song to sync or not.
There's a manual mode, I'm pretty sure of it. I haven't used iTunes for ages though, so I can't tell you really. Look through your settings. Keep in mind that you can also sync with a specific playlist.
There's definately a manual mode. I just can't remember how to change it... Sorry. But it's definately there, I use it!
On the topic of battery life, my IPod Video doesn't have such a great battery life only about a few hours, maybe 6-7 hours probably less. I dunno about Nanos though. Nanos probably have a longer battery life because i'm pretty sure watching videos takes battery power away quicker than just listening to songs. I think games are worse so avoid games.
well i get my Nano tomorrow (saturday) morning so i have all day to figure it out thanks for the help guys i got my iPod today and i got it working perfectly
