I'm trying to record a song of a similar style (electronica roots with keyboard and guitar strings), but I'm having trouble getting the tempo to sound right, mostly with the hi-hat. For this reason I ask you, LPA: is Bourdon's hi-hat during the intro, choruses and bridge doing 8th notes, 16th notes, or something else I'm unaware of?
As far as when they play the song live, Rob only plays 8ths on the hi-hat on Breaking the Habit, but it certainly sounds like 16ths on the CD, so I would assume it was either played that way on the album or he does 8th notes while there's a hi-hat-like beat behind him doing 16ths (a similar thing occurs during Numb)
