Definitely. We need to sit and talk with terrorists and negotiate. Usually there wants are not too complex.
Iran is something that's been brewing for a couple years, the Bush administration got all paranoid when they started building up their nuclear resources (similar to what happened with North Korea). It's something that needs to be addressed, but could be worked out in a civil manner. North Korea was just recently taken off the U.S. list of countries that pose the greatest terror threats. I think if Bush can work things out with North Korea, Obama can do the same with Iran. Kim Jong-Il is a LOT crazier than Ali Khamenei, at least in my opinion.
I watched Jon Stewart's and Stephen Colbert's election special and I didn't see Stephen tear up. I did see him wipe his eyes but he did it in such a way that I thought he was still in character, since his "character" was pulling for McCain. Perhaps I'm wrong, but that's how I interpreted it.
That's true, he could've been crying for McCain lol. Either way: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/11/05/stephen-colbert-tears-up_n_141389.html I'll leave people make their own conclusions on this lol. We don't know what could've been going through Stephen's head at the time.
Because Obama was elected? I don't fully know your views on the situation hun, because we've never talked about it, which is good. But with either candidate, things wouldn't/aren't going to change much, at least not quickly. People need to understand this, that it's going to take 4-8 years to fix everything, maybe even longer. Our countries problems run a lot deeper than the leader of this country.
Don't worry. It was really, when you boil it down to the title of "Married" and Gay Marriage in Churches. And..I think I'm missing something else, but that's pretty much it. There's still Civil Union, which is Marriage, except in City Hall. You still have the Same rights. I was a No on Prop 8, and it's disappointing to see it not pass. I Believe it isn't all about hate, it's about the Church-goer's Religion. They wanted Yes on 8 because the Bible that they follow; Or least, why I think they put Yes on 8. That's about as far as I know of prop 8, since I'm too young to vote and seriously don't care (I mean, c'mon. Just let them. Equality for all in America, right?) I'm all for negotiating, as Obama is going to do, however, you must pull the gun away from the table before real talk begins. ( Pull out troops in Middle-east!, imo ) !! I just wish instead of Afghanistan, we go home instead. I do hope by the end of The First Term, We've Significantly pulled out of the middle-east. edit: Dean: XD LOL. edit2: I'm upset over not having the California Renewable or Alternative Energy Sources prop pass. It'd help the environment alittle, But it would cost ALOT. However, the positive would be quite some more jobs for installing and inspecting land =D. I was for it to pass. Darn.
I think my favorite complaint from McCain supporters is Obama's going to convert the U.S. to socialism. All I see all over Facebook is "Goodbye, capitalism, hello, socialism." I guarantee 95% of them are only saying that because other McCain supporters are saying the same thing. I base my statement on the fact that none of them seem to be able to understand that Obama's got very few socialist views, and even the man running for the Socialist Party has said Obama's views are NOT socialist in any way, shape or form. I love how people can't formulate their own opinions or do their own research. That reminds me that another friend of mine changed his status to "I'm glad Obama got elected based on the fact that people voted for him because he was black instead of researching the candidates." Oh, yeah? What about all the people who didn't vote for him because he was black instead of researching the candidates? Honestly, politics has made me a little weary of a lot of people I've called "friends" the past however many years, just because of how bigoted they all are.
You guys really think that sitting down and chatting over a cup of tea with terrorists would solve issues? If it were a perfect world, sure. ...It's not a perfect world.
Amen. A lot can be settled with tough diplomacy instead, of blowing them up the minute we think they have nukes or acting on bad intelligence like we did with Iraq. If anybody actually paid attention to Obama when he talked about these discussions, you'd know they wont be a happy go lucky tea party with sunshine, smiles and lemon drops. Obama's said numerous times that he is going to be tough in these talks and make sure these enemy nations know the possible implications for them if they continue to threaten the safety of this country, or the world. Diplomacy doesn't make you a pussy, it makes you intelligent and careful...instead of dumb, rash and reckless like we were with the war in Iraq. Seriously. Anyways....I'm thinking of making a retrospective of Obama's run for the presidency from start to finish, and I'd like to ask you all for suggestions as to what song should be used. Preferably something positive or hopeful that connects with American values.
You should use "Yes We Can" by will.i.am. When Obama started saying "yes we can" again during his speech last night, I got goosebumps. It was absolutely incredible and sums everything up.
Black Man by Stevie Wonder seems to fit pretty well. I havent actually listened to it, but I know Obama likes Stevie Wonder and the lyrics seemed to fit.
