Meh, I listen to some of it for laughs or when working out but from a musical standpoint power metal blows, man! That being said it can be a guilty pleasure of mine haha. The only power mteal band I can take seriously is Symphony X. They can talk about Medusa and The Odyssey and Dragons and make it sound COOL.
I love power metal. Right up there as one of my favourite genres This is my list in order of preference, starting with the greatest ever Demons & Wizards Kamelot Iced Earth HammerFall Edguy DragonForce Blind Guardian Demons & Wizards is the ultimate blend lyrically and with sound. Great vocals also. Hansi Kürsch has much better vocals in Demons & Wizards than Blind Guardian in my opinion; much less scratchy and melodic.
My friend is going to see Blind Guardian in London in September. $3000 trip. Hehe. If he's spending that much, they must be good. I'll have to check out more of their music. Slipknot is the greatest power metal band ever.
