Recommend me some political bands or even songs!

    I've already got:

    > Midnight Oil
    > The Cranberries
    > A Perfect Circle
    > System of A Down

Muse was particularly political on Black Holes and Revelations, but on a more global scale. Green Day is also a bit notorious nowadays for that sort of thing (at least with American Idiot).

Yeah, I came in here to post this. That's pretty much all you need, whether you like that kind of music or not. Just read the lyrics if you can't stand to listen to the music.

Bob Dylan, Bright Eyes & M.I.A., too. I'd hardly call A Perfect Circle "political" music. They only had one album that was centered around issues like that.

A few that haven't already been mentioned:

    Against Me!
    Dead Kennedys
Anti-Flag (kind of hit or miss, quality-wise)

I feel fucking ashamed that I left out the Dead Kennedys. I'm going to go die now.

The Catalyst isn't political. It's more along the lines of apocalyptical.

If we're going that route, I think that opens up a wider selection of bands to choose from. Although, I came into this thread expecting and listing bands that were inherently political by nature, and discussed it in their songs/albums over a career, not just one album/song.

But, since you said it, throw "Year Zero" by Nine Inch Nails into the mix as well.

I love Flobots' album "Fight With Tools". One of my favorite records actually. For some reason I still haven't listened to their latest record. But "Fight With Tools" is definitely political. I'd recommend it to any human being.
