I think we can all remember a time where we all had a GameBoy in our hands and a copy of a Pokémon game plugged firmly into it. If not, there's something wrong with you, for real. :p

In Japan, Pokémon Red and Green were released simultaneously and shortly thereafter Pokémon Blue was released. Pokémon Red and Blue were then brought to the United States where the Pokémon craze was officially underway. Green was never released in the United States.

    Until now.

To tie over the United States until Pokémon Emerald is released in the US, Nintendo recently released complete re-makes of Pokémon Red and Green known as Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen. The games feature improved graphics and sound, all 356 known Pokémon from Red, Green, Gold, Silver, Ruby and Sapphire, as well as new side-quests and missions, the original Japanese storyline for the game, and 12 new islands that can be unlocked after defeating the Pokémon League.

Though Johto, Hoenn and Oenn aren't included in the re-makes, it doesn't mean that all the Pokémon from Gold, Silver, Ruby and Sapphire aren't there. As far as I know, Pokémon from Gold and Silver can be caught on the 12 new islands, whereas the Pokémon from Ruby and Sapphire can be attained through Pokémon Collesium for the Nintendo GameCube.

Also, rumors suggest that the only Pokémon that cannot be caught in the entire game is Mew. Mewtwo can still be found in its original cave, and the three Legendary birds can be found in their original locations as well (except for Moltres who exists on one of the 12 new islands). Lugia, Ho-oh and Celebi can all be captured in the game now as well.

More new features in the game include a revamped battle network. The games both come with a new wireless adapter with a working distance of 10 meters (33 feet). There is a new Union Room where you can be amongst 40 other trainers at the same time and you can chat with up to five of those trainers using the new chat feature.

Also, Pokémon battles within the game have been revamped, and now include new animations and cutscenes, as well as two-on-two battles. And every time you turn your GameBoy Advance on with FireRed or LeafGreen plugged into it, you'll be able to relive the last five major things you did on your journey in the new flashback feature.

Head over to PokemonCenter.com to pick up your copy of Pokémon FireRed or LeafGreen right now!

I started playing Gold again, too, when I found out about LeafGreen and FireRed. I want to brush up before I buy one of them.

I haven't even gotten to the second gym yet, and all of my Pokémon are around level 20. I GameSharked to get Mew, Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Cyndaquil and Totodile. I started with Chikorita. Aside from those, I already have 17 Pokémon, and seven different versions of Unown. The second gym leader is going to be owned... hard.

I kicked Blue's ass when I was in my Pokemon phase.

Granted I used a cheat to obtain Mew and beat Red/Ash/Whatever.

    Bah.

I love the Pokemon games. I remember way back when I had Red Version. I had all 151 Pokemon. I owned everyone in a battle and spent hours leveling up my pokemon with rare candy thanks to the good old inifinite item trick!
Then I bought Gold and I have around 246 Pokemon.

Brings back so many good memories. I might just put Fire Red on my Christmas list.

Granted, it's been 6 years since i gave it up, but I still don't want to dwell on nostalgia that could have ruined my life.

I only bought Red and Gold. I then gave my gameboy away and only played the games on the PC (with emulators and what-not). I had Ruby on my other PC and enjoyed looking back on what I used to do in 4th, 5th and 6th grade.

It's been years, but I've played Red, Yellow, Silver, Crystal and Ruby, but not Blue, Gold and Sapphire because those are just similar. FireRed and LeafGreen are great too.

My first Mew was official, my friend traded it to me after he got it through a promotion but didn't want it anymore.

Oh, and I lied... there are 386 Pokémon in FireRed and LeafGreen and the only two that you can't catch are Jirachi and Mew.

Ah i have so many of those games. Never completed any of them really i don't think. I have done the Elite Four many times on Blue but haven't done much of the game really lol. I got Blue, Red, Yellow and Gold. I kind of gave up after Gold came out. And yes i will admit that i loved Pokemon when i was younger  It was amazing at the time
