Just two weeks before Powerman 5000 was set to release their highly-anticipated Anyone For Doomsday?, vocalist Spider 1 decided to scrap the project and begin working on the album that would eventually become Transform. However, the band has finally decided to release the long lost AFD? on the internet. Here is a statement from Spider 1: You can click here to head to the site to purchase AFD?, and, trust me, you won't regret it. The album is amazing.
It was pressed, leaked, and then scrapped? WTF?! Did it take seeing the plastic disc before deciding that they didnt like the album? These decisions are to be made when mixing! Then you can piss the record company off for not meeting deadline
See, that's just the thing. Dreamworks Records was one of the best labels out there because they let their bands do whatever they wanted. It's the main reason Deadsy took almost 6 years to finally release Commencement. Anyone For Doomsday? was supposed to be released August 28th, 2001. And since Spider and his band had full control over the album (mixing, producing, etc), he decided to scrap it. And since they don't have a label now, they need to make money somehow, so they're selling AFD?.
Actually the CD was being sold in some stores up until Sept. 11th. I remember seeing it at Wal Mart once. Oh, and I remember hearing the original release date was like, September 11th. And then Spider had second thoughts and pulled it. Could be just a rumor though.
That's a rumor. Its original release date was August 28th, 2001--the same day as Slipknot's Iowa. Spider wanted the band to move in a new direction so he scrapped the project.
You must have been hallucinating or something, Casey. I swear I saw "The End is Near" by Five Iron Frenzy at a Wal-Mart, but then I woke up and got ready for the day.
but..but.. I did see it! :hypno:
They had advance copies in stores, but PM5K asked the copies that were in stores to be taken off the shelves. Those copies are the ones you could find on eBay. But now that PM5K has finally released the CD, there's no need to pay $300 for it anymore when you can just pay $10. In fact, I ordered one a bit ago. I can't wait to get it.
..I'll steal it from Hastings. I won't buy a CD anymore unless: A ) I really love the artist or B ) It comes with a DVD and/or special #### on the CD.
Haha. It is, but I love owning the actual copies of CDs. It's just a thing I have. *shrugs*
I'm the same way...I burn some CDs, but...I like having the actual product. I like reading the booklets, I like how the colorful CDs look in my CD case. Needless to say, I buy a lot used PM5K is a band I never really paid much attention to until recently, but I think I just might buy this... Also, I'll agree that Dreamworks kicks @$$. I wonder if anything will change when Universal takes over (if they haven't already, I don't know how quickly these things move)?
