I did a quick bit of research and came to the conclusion that Photoshop CS3 is supposedly the "best" of the photoshop programs. Before I make the purchase, I'd like to read the forum members' preferences. What do you guys prefer or recommend?
Well the thing is, every Photoshop iteration boasts improvements over the version that came before it. I personally use CS3 and love it, but if you're going to spend that much (photoshop is quite frankly ridiculously high priced) you should probably go with CS4. Get the newest if you're gonna lay the money out.
No clue why I thought CS3 was between $100- $300.. but wow! It's running at $600 + still? In any case, thanks for the reply Derek! I trust your preference and will go for CS3.
Smart. If you decide you wanna upgrade to CS5 when it comes out (which is inevitable), they'll offer a really discounted price to upgrade. It's only 600+ when you buy it brand new.
Dusan has got a good point. GIMP is free and it has just about every feature that CS3 has along with a few extras.
You can download Photoshop for free too if you want it, it's really easy to find it. You can try different versions and then if you really really really want to spend 600$, you can buy the one you like the most.

Yeah, I'm sorry, I know that you guys don't support piracy, but 600$ is too much money to be wasted on something you're not even sure you want to buy. I suggested downloading just as a trial before he decides what to buy, not as a final solution If you decide you wanna pay nada, I second Disturbedthoughts's suggestion. GIMP is pretty good.

Damn adobe really force me to download…600 usd…Id rather buy an iphone… since even might be cheaper… Well, I'm using CS3, and it's good. Never tried cs4.
