They are actually really good. I didn't know much about them when I saw them and I enjoyed them quite a bit
I'll be seeing them at a festival. And they are up at the same time as Def Leppard and Danzig. Now as big as Def are, I'm not much into them, where as I like Danzig to some extent, and i've heard a lot about Pendulum's live shows but have not heard any album. What album should I start off with?
I heard their next album isn't going to be drum and bass and more rock oriented. ... That's not good news. Not every artist changes their style and becomes better like Linkin Park. But again, some do. Opinions? I'm rather confused by it.
I think it's pretty good news. I'd like to see what they can do with a more rock oriented record. Personally, Self Vs. Self is my favorite track on Immersion.
Pendulum taking up more of a rock front HELL YEAH though, this is kind of the opposite of what Linkin Park did
Immersion was way more rock than DnB, I thought. Even In Silico has a lot of rock. Hold Your Colour was the only album that had the majority of it being DnB. The thing they all have in common are well produced songs by Swire. I don't see Pendulum getting worse by changing styles, if they so desire.
Pendulum started out as a drum & bass production unit, and have since grown to be a band that incorporates influences from all sorts of musical styles; they should be able to show the world that they can do whatever the hell they want, regardless of what their fans and critics think, and that they can still kill it without relying on that crutch.
I heard Immersion was supposed to be good, but since it wasn't in the US itunes store and I was too lazy to find it somewhere else, I never listened. Well, now it is there and I gave it a play. Holy shit. Now I'm almost...kinda mad that I had to miss their act because of my Meet and Greet. Keyword: almost No, really, it's a great album.
I still think Hold Your Colour is their best album but Immersion is a very close runner-up. I think the main reason why I like HYC more is because I've grown up listening to Pendulum. I remember my brother playing me my first Pendulum track when I was about 13 and listening to HYC a year later and getting hooked. I'm interested to see how their new material will sound. I'm hoping they don't drift away from DNB altogether.
I think I remember seeing Rob saying the album would hopefully be released early next year and will be more punk-influenced. *shrugs*
