According to AP, they had an entire album completely written which they scrapped because they didn't like the story they were telling. So they've already got an album done. They're just recording another.
LP did that exact same thing for Meteora. They scrapped like 85 songs or something, and then rewrote the whole CD during 2002/2003.
No, Panic! at the Disco had an album almost completely recorded and decided they didn't like the concept, so they scrapped the entire project and started from scratch.
They changed their minds because the songs were going to be too hard to play live. As far as they were concerned, they weren't focusing on playing songs live so much as they were focusing on the album itself, which is a problem a lot of bands have nowadays. They make their songs so intricate that they can't play them live. So I'm glad Panic! got around that and realized the mistake they were making.
I'm very, very pleased about this =] I'd like to see where they're going with this new album. Maybe when/if they go on a European tour with this one, I'll be able to see them, and they won't sound bad because of way too intricate but awesome songs.
Im looking forward to this, their first album was great. I hope that they release the album that they threw away as a b-side collection or something. That way we could hear the music, but they would not have to play it live. Im hoping that they sort of merge the two sides of their last album together instead of keeping them seperate. Instead of having half electronic rock, half circus rock (for lack of a better term), they should do a strange circus electronic rock album.
They didn't, but they also didn't like the fact they were basically performing their songs for the studio instead of thinking about being able to also perform them live.
