I have a high degree of respect for Muse. Musically, I find them to be one of the most talented and gifted groups around. Matt is an extraordinary musician. In fact, I have so much appreciation for their music I own all of their albums to date. Granted, I'm more partial towards their newer work. That said, this song sucked some hard D. I'm definitely nervous about The 2nd Law. I thought it would be a no-brainer for my Top 5 annual album list, but it may not make it if this represents the entirety of the album. Although I'm sure it won't.
Between this song (one from the album) and the dubstep in the trailer, The 2nd Law isn't looking good.
Here's one with much better quality I thought it was extraordinary. That's how you make a fucking song. If this is the first single, I can't imagine what the other songs are going to sound like. This is so far from single material. No chorus, basically no structure, tons of instrumental time. It's refreshing to hear after Living Things singled it up so hard.
Muse is quickly becoming Queen 2.0. Not really high on this track. Back to Black Holes and Absolution for me, hopefully the rest of the album is better but I don't know, Resistance wasn't great for me, either.
^ I agee. Not feeling "Survival" at all right now, it might grow on me though. I'm still excited about hearing The 2nd Law in full.
I'm sorry but that new song was absolutely terrible. Sounds like they were trying to incorporate traditional British elements in there. I was much more excited about the dubstep than this.
Well, Matt wrote it with the Olympics in mind so maybe he was going for a traditional British feel here.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought that song was terrible. Musically it's pretty good, especially the last minute or so, but Matt's vocals and lyrics are unbelievably bad.
http://www.nme.com/news/muse/64593 That takes care of the dubstep worries, though one potentially very good song is ruined.
Muse is amazing. I especially love their Black Holes & Revelations album. I love the singer's voice. It is pure magic what he does. I am still hoping to see them live one day. They have such a unique and fun sound.
