I hate that the NHL had a lockdown. I have season tickets to the sabres. Also I am a juge fan of the flyers. this means no more parties on game nights. hopefully they can do something
Not looking good boys. They say that the negotiations are going steadily downhill and neither side is getting anywhere. They might be locked out until 2012 :s
What'd you do, lose a bet? It's ridiculous how slow this is taking, yet it doesn't surprise me. We all knew the day, that teams would no longer be making money, would come. Players are getting paid too much and owners are charging too much. What we need is a player cap (not a team cap) introduced so that people under current contract will not have to lose money, but those coming up who will get even more monmey will be unable. What I mean by this is; Jaromir Jagr is making eleven million dollars a year for the next three years? At the end of that contract (in which he'll still be getting eleven million a year), he will not be able to get a contract worth more than, say, 6 million yearly. That way, the problem gets fixed completely within the next two-to-four years of playing. The players won't lose money for the next few years, they'll just won't get as large a contract in a few years. BY that time, they'll have amassed enough money to actually accept a lower contract. Secondly, get rid of at least 3-5 franchises. Carolina, Buffalo, Pittsburgh, Columbus, and Washington, at least, have to go. Less teams = a more even playing field, with the marquis players going to other teams. This means more teams will get more people into their arenas because all the teams are more well-rounded. Thus, owners won't have to up their price tickets because the demand is higher. Get me back my Leafs damnit! :'(
I hope something good happens soon. My life without hockey is horrible, soon i'm going to have to watch the local minor hockey teams instead of The Edmonton Oilers
Well, at least there's the AHL. We have the St. John's Maple Leafs for one more season before they're relocated ( ). And NHL 2005 (PS2) seems to be holding me over slightly. Plus, there's ice hockey and ball hockey that I'm involved in, the odd game of street hockey, and CBC's "Making The Cut". I'll get by, slightly.
Well this is good news for the new arena they just built downtown. Atleast we have the AHL. Oh and shouldnt this be in Serious Chat?
I must say I LOVE the shutdown more than anything else in the world right now. All the Czech players are now playing in our Extraliga, so it's like my dreams coming true because I can see them live. The Czech Republic is a small country so I can drive to any town I want to in less than 5 hours so I can see many Extraliga games. Next Friday I'm seeing Znojmo/Plzen so that means players such as Vokoun, Havlat, Elias, Spacek and Straka Oh guys I feel so sorry for you
NHL = National Hockey League. The world's biggest and most-highly skilled hockey league situated in US/Canada. Basically, player salaries were getting too high, owners were losing money, and the game wouldn't have survcived another 10 years of defecits. Alone last year, the league themselves lost something like 300 million dollars. So when the Collective Bargaining Agreement expired on September 15th, the league locked out the players asd both sides try to find common ground to help salvage the league. Sadly, both sides (players vs owners) aren't making enough conessions for the good of hockey.
Hell yeah! [/b][/quote] Haven't you seen how we were overplaying you in the semifinals? That was just bad luck. :'( :'(
