Ok, this has been annoying me for a while now.

Your post count should not increase when you post in the Newbie Camp forum. It's pointless because people only post there to spam and raise their post count. Otherwise, I doubt they'd be welcoming members.

It's annoying me, because people are only posting "Welcome to the LPA. Read the rules and guide." and that's it. If you're going to post there, try and be original at least [like I did with one of my posts in there, if anyone remembers].

I'm surprised that some of you don't have your "Most Active In:" forum as 'Newbie Camp' [go have a look in your profile if you don't know what I'm talking about], because whenever I look through the topics in that forum, the same group of people are posting there.
    [/rant]

Hopefully an admin will take this into consideration.

Oh, and am I the only one who gets random SQL errors every now and then? I've gotten 2 today. 10 overall at my time here on the LPA.

    edit //
One more thing, I think there's something wrong with 'Today's Top 10 Posters' statistics. It hasn't reset for today. So incase you're wondering about the 150 something posts, it wasn't all in one day, don't worry.

I dissagree with the think that you are saying...
I am posting in the Newbie Camp. You know...i am saying the think you said"welcome to the LPA.read the rules etc" not for spamming but to welcome the new member. When i was a newbie i liked when they were saying to me only a "welcome".

EDIT:Sorry for my bad english.i just wake up

*shrugs* Why be original? It's not like they've read it before. I welcome new people just to be friendly. And, seeing as I don't have any friends on here, I sometimes use it to try and make friends.

I agree with tm. But then, I disagree.

As for agreeing with him, he's right. All we do say is, "Welcome to the LPA. Read the rules." and such. It sounds like a routine, and it sounds like a rule to welcome people. And there are some people who welcome people just to raise their post count. I only welcome people every now and then.

But for my disagreement, newbies do enjoy being welcomed. I enjoyed being welcomed. And it's a good way to start friendships here on the LPA. Newbies don't want to feel left out. And your originality...why does that matter? A newbie's not going to rant about originality. They're just going to appreciate the fact that you know they are there and that you are welcoming them to the LPA.

Yes...I don't think that posts should count there...but you should be allowed to post there and welcome people.

It's a pretty good debate here, but I say we keep the post count, because it is the incentive for people to welcome other members. I know, it's not the best way for things to happen, but it's the only way we get new people to stick around. Everyone likes feeling welcome, even if it's for other reasons.

New members are happy, post count hoes are happy as well.

And hopefully the more people remind noobs to read the rules and guide, they just might do it.

And just to note, my opinion as an admin doesn't mean it's final. We'll do whatever we think is best for everyone, it may go against what I myself think.

    Wait a minute...i have a question.

Many members are posting to the Random Thoughts just for saying a word to raise their posts. Why you don't say this?I think is the same thing but in different topic.

I hope you understand what i mean

I rarely post in the Newbie Camp. I stick to Random Thoughts. :)

If you remove the post count increase, it won't make much difference. Some might not even notice it. People will still keep welcoming members.

As for originality, hey, it gets boring reading through the newbie camp and seeing the same fucking post repeated over and over. :p

Remember, I'm not saying to close the newbie camp. I'm just saying that your post count shouldn't increase when you <s>spam</s> post in there. ;) [I think that's the idea GiriosXeni had.] Sometimes I tend to think, do these people actually mean it, or are they just doing it to raise their post count!? I mean like I see newbies [less that 50 posts] welcoming other newbies, I mean wtf?

And the Random Thoughts issue...SHHHH. :p

When I welcome people in the newbie camp, I do mean it. Since I'm a mod, it's only right that I do welcome the new members and remind them to read the rules and so forth.

As for originality, who cares? Seriously. Just welcome the new members. I don't see why we have to be "original".

This is a message board. That means when you post something, your postcount increases. Why would you want to change that?

I don't really see the point. Even if people do spam in the Newbie Camp, people do it all the time in other threads too. So it really doesn't make sense to disable the postcount in the Newbie Camp.

Well of course you mean it, you're mod.

I shouldn't of mentioned it in the first place. <_< I get bored reading the same message over and over again thou. >_< :p

Meh, whatever. I'm just wondering what everyone's views are on this. :)

I agree totally, and when I post there, I really mean it. I believe, like you have said before that its really nice to see ppl welcoming you. If you give a look to my posts in there, you'll see I NEVER reply with a 2 or 3 words post. Anyway, I believe the Random thoughts thing is very true and you know ™ damn well that's what you do in there. So I believe this makes no sense at all. Its just my point of view, of course.

Conclusion: Posts in the newbie camp are still on :p

Really now? Only about 10% of my posts in RT5 are one worders. The other 90% are usually sentences or even paragraphs at times.

Now you on the other hand, don't get me started. ;)

I never meant for the newbie camp to be closed, just for post count increase to be disabled. ;)

I know, i have nothing against you. And i never said your replies were 1 or 2 words posts, no!
I just meant that the newbie camp is ok the way it is and that the random thoughts thread sometimes turns into the postwhore festival, thats all.

It seems more like you're demanding than suggesting.

We already made the mistake once of not letting someone's post count go up in a forum. Remember when we did it in Random Chat? The place became desolate. People most likely won't post in the Newbie Camp if their post count doesn't go up. It's an incentive to post. Besides, we should encourage more people to post in those forums, not take away their motivation.

Thanks for the suggestion, but it's not going to happen.
