Seems unfair for the new mask for the AHIG mask to be there as well. I liked that one. Mask wise, nothing surprising, besides Corey's departure. Craig, James, and Mick stay relatively the same, Chris has his tweaked a bit differently, Clown has a new clown, and Sid has something completely fucking different that'll probably be changed before the European Summer Season.
LOL, and I thought the vid for The Negative One was bad.... Duality is still by far their best video. Oh, and Corey's new mask looks fucking stupid.
Also, the new bassist for Slipknot has been all but confirmed. http://www.metalsucks.net/2014/09/12/slipknot-new-bassists-identity-revealed/
He used to play with Against Me! and, I think, Madball. So, not the most stunning metal credentials, but he doesn't sound bad from what we've heard so far (assuming that's even him playing on the album, of course).
So suddenly, The Devil In I clicked for me. I REALLY like it now. The music video isn't as bad as I initally thought either. I might wind up getting the Deluxe CD after all.
I'm feelin The Negative One but with The Devil In I, just not feeling it. Sounds too much like a Stone Sour song. BTW the new bassist is Keanu Reeves (Dogstar) and the new drummer is Rick Allen (Def Leppard), he grew his arm back thanks to stem cell research.
I appear to be the only one enjoying the hell out of the video, but hey, I'm easy to please. As for the masks, I dun like em. Nope, not a little bit. I like what Sid is doing, but the chances of that staying the same during summer touring? Not looking likely. Corey and Shawn's are just terrible, Mick, Craig's and Chris' (with a colour change) are practically identical, Jim's is just cropped to let his beard out, and the two new guyses masks are so... How do I put it? Boring. There's no real distinguishing features on them... Hmm.
Hey, the Slipknot1 forums used to have arguments over what shoes Corey wore, or what hair product Jim used. At least THAT didn't carry over here.
Clown: Bassist (Probably Alessandro Venturella): Sid Wilson (His mask is fucking legit): Jim Root: Corey Taylor (I actually really like this mask now. The best new one, other than Sid's): Chris Fehn: Craig Jones: Drummer (Probably Jay Weinberg): Mick Thompson:
My critique with it is that it looks too human. But that's me wanting to it to look more cool than more creepy. And it's Slipknot here, so creepy will generally win out anyway.
Poor wording in my side. Though crazy or something along the lines of it. "Sane human" would probably work. Psychotic.
The All Hope Is Gone cycle was probably the band at their most refined both musically and aesthetically. This new arc is feelin' a tad bit phoned-in especially after that album cover and music video. Albeit fun, the blood and gore was a little too 'Halloween'. Nonetheless, cool concept with the whole farewell spin to their last cycle.
