It's great! Really interesting way of songwriting. I really like that the show actually enhances the music.
This is shaping up to be a classic album. These first two songs are fucking awesome. And yes, the documentary put so much perspective on the song. Can't wait for the second episode tonight. I'm pretty sure Obama is going to be interviewed.
Dave Grohl better say "Thanks Obama" at the end of that interview. It then needs to be on the show. Please.

Nice! I would pick up Sonic Highways when it drops, but the new Ne Oblivicaris, Pink Floyd, and Hans Zimmer will be out. :/
Pick them all up! EDIT: Just listened to the new song. Feature sounded way better than I expected it to, but I think this is the worst of the Three songs so far. Still a good song though, and this album should be quite fantastic.
I still haven't watched the episode for Congregation yet, so I'm eager to see the lyrics tie into the episode.
Yeah, I was personally nervous that Congregation was going to have some kind of religious message, but the episode cleared that up for me. It's pretty good, but I'd say the other two are better.
I like all of the songs so far, but I think the best has been Something From Nothing. It's just such a strong opener and it sets the tone for the rest of the album, even though we haven't even heard it all yet.

So we have heard 5/8th of the album. Loving what I hear so far! Ready for the whole album! EDIT: It leaked
If their new album had nine tracks rather than eight, they'd record one song at Detroit. Another American city that have it's own unique history and cultrue in music. You can now listen to Sonic Highways on Itunes before it hits in stores.
A quick review after a few listens: Something From Nothing: 8/10 The Feast And The Famine: 7/10 Congregation: 7,5/10 What Did I Do?/God As My Witness: 6,5/10 (not sure about this one yet - I might hate it haha) Outside: 6,5/10 In The Clear: 5/10 Subterranean: 6/10 I Am a River: 6,5/10 Overall score: 6,5/10 This album is a mixed bag. (Warning: I don't give a shit about the concept of this record) Especially the last half of the tracks feel repetitive and with little surprises in instrumentation and dynamics. Take a song like Outside - It has this nice bridge that feels like it is going to evolve into something big- but then it just goes back into the chorus with little to no payoff. You could easily cut a minute off some of the tracks and then they would be a bit more focused IMO. Lyrically some of the tracks seem too simple and straight forward - while the overall song progression and structure is the opposite. This album is definitely more "classic rock" than anything else - and I always preferred their more fast "in your face" rock songs. It may sound like I strongly dislike the album but I actually enjoy parts of the record buuut it could had been a lot better.
