Here is a radio rip of Alexisonfire's upcoming single Young Cardinals, taken from the upcoming album Old Crows/Young Cardinals.
I actually like it quite a bit. The bridge is really nice, and the other parts aren't too bad really. Before i really make my mind up on the track, i'm going to wait for a better quality recording. You can hardly hear the guitars at all.
Yeah, I was streaming the radio station that this rip was taken from when they originally played it, and even then it didn't sound as good as you'd think a CD quality recording would sound. I think it's a decent song, probably not great in its own right but there's enough there that's new for them to keep me more than interested in the new album. It definitely seems like it'd come off better with a recording where you can clearly hear all of the parts besides Dallas' vocals and the drumming.
George's screams sound quite different on that recording too, I'm not sure if it was just the shit quality or they had George and Wade (although it didn't really sound like him) at the same time. I'd definitely like to hear the album version. How far off is it, do you know? Oh, and i swear i heard some glock in the bridge!
It's George with some backing vocals by Wade, or at least that's what it sounds like to me. George has said that on this album he'll be doing more of the singing/yelling type stuff from songs like Rough Hands and My God Is A Reasonable Man, hence there being a lot of vocals from him without it necessarily being screaming. The album's out sometime in June, I think.
All positive for me. George's new technique sounds really awesome and fresh, Dallas is flawless and doesn't mumble, Wade's still there for support and esspecially the drums kick ass. Now we wait for the album.
Having heard a decent quality version, I really like it. Took a while to get used to, but I like George's new style of singing/screaming, and so long as a couple of tracks on the album get his proper throat shredding treatment, then I'm good. Can't wait.
Sounds like I won't enjoy it as much as Watch Out!, but probably more than Crisis. I'll wait til i listen to it first to decide though
