Being unique does not make it terrible... I, for one, respect him and I think his voice brings a certain contrast.
No doubt you're right. I was just referring to your average listener who would ask "Who?" when hearing the name Daron Malakian.
?? I didn't say anything about unique being bad. I said I think his voice is terrible. When he isn't doing that obnoxious, cringe worthy shrieking thing, his clean voice is incontinently bland.
Haha I had to quite undies because I feel the same way. I don't see his shreikiness as terrible, I see it as being unique. Everyone has their opinions, though, and I respect yours as I can see how he's not everyone's cup of tea.
Begin-90 alternative metal sound. I think one of their trademark thing are their repetitive gritty distorded guitar riffs. Overal, they had a very agressive, dirty and raw sound, with very few layers of music. Like, there was just guitars + bass + drums, with vocals sounding like they were recorded on the first take. I think the best way of describing their sound is to say it would be the kind of thing you'd expect in the soundtrack of a skate game
I've been going through this whole thread with no changed mind, until I read that sentence, NOW I'm hyped.
First and foremost, he NEEDS to play guitar, but his vocals would be an added bonus. He's not the best singer ever, but every song he did vocals on in in SOAD were so damn cool and unique, especially Prison Song.
Linkin Park and Daron Malakian?! Holy fuck, my favorite band and my favorite guitar player (from my 2nd favorite band). This is going to be awesome!
Yeah, I just listened to them and that's a good way to describe it. This probably means more "Warped Tour" type songs on this coming album.
Aren't all these collaborations going to impede the live performance of this album? LP can't go on tour with all the featured guests. I wonder how they'll fill the gaps left by the absence of these guests when they perform live. Perhaps most of the songs in the album are really quite long so that when you exclude the parts contributed by the guests, they're still long enough to be performed live like with GATS? Hmmm
Well, Paige Hamilton and Daron Malakian are both guitarists. One could assume that Brad would play their parts live, albiet probably not as good. As to Rakim, simply cut out his verse live, or include a different rap verse, similar to what they did with Victimized / QWERTY, Waiting for the End / Until it Breaks, or Bleed it Out / Sabotage.
Fucking Helmet?! I always thought LP could do a great Unsung cover, but I'll definitely take this option.
