Basically, my computer is doing my head in. It keeps freezing for no reason pretty much every hour and it's starting to get old after like, 5 days.

Anyone got any suggestions why this may be happening?

I've done a full virus check (which uncovered no problems whatsoever), deleted a load of files (I thought it may make the computer run better, apparently it's just made it worse), done a full disc-defragment (which took bloody ages 'cause the computer kept crashing during it) and uninstalled programs which I don't use (mainly for the space).

    Which files did you delete?

If any of them where in C:\WINDOWS, your computer license needs to be revoked. Never delete anything in there, unless you have knowledge of what you're doing in there. Just because it says "explorer.exe", it's not Internet Explorer, people. Your computer will pretty much be useless without that file (ie. bye bye taskbar, and any window).

    Backup and reinstall?

Did you try ad aware? Also, maybe one of your PCI cards is loose.

@Tomi - The only files I deleted were not in the WINDOWS folder so that'd probably not the problem. It probably would be for the best to back up all my stuff and reformat my comp though.

@Neil - I'll try ad aware. I know I used to have it on my comp but it may have been deleted. The only way I can check the PCI cards is to open up the computer though isn't it? If nothing helps, that may be an option.

Thanks for the help guys. Much more productive than Luke's input

Mind if I ask which files you deleted? Perhaps it could give some explainations to your problems. Also, how long has it been since you last installed Windows?

NOD32, Spybot: Search & Destroy, Adaware: all really good programs to use. :)
