(Sorry if it's in the wrong forums, I don't know where I should put it) I just downloaded this and I believe it's what some of you guys use to download songs and stuff, but I have no idea how to download or anything for that matter, so can anyone help me if anyway possible...?
random chat, to begin with. and we can't help you if we don't know what P2P program you're using? Kazaa? New Napster? Grokster?
mIRC? [/b][/quote] Yea. mIRC is just a client used to access the service, IRC is the actual service. There are other clients like Virc and Pirch, and Ircle (lol) for Macintosh computers.
oh damnit, he had the program in the subtitle, my bad. uh yeah, last time I downloaded something off of mIRC, it was porn, and I had to have another site give me directions and whatnot.
This is not a serious topic, as it does not deal with world issues or things that affect people in a serious matter, therefore it should only be in Random Chat. Next time you go to post, ask if it applies to the guidelines above. If it doesn't post it in Random Chat.
If you get on a messenger service I'll be able to help you out more thoroughly, but you haven't posted any screen name for any service so I don't know how to help ya. It's easier to ask questions in real time than here.
IRC Tutorial -- By Mark IRC is a program used to log onto servers, also known as networks. On these servers (networks), there are channels. The channels are like chat rooms, where people talk to one another and send files to one another if requested. The places where these files are are called File Servers (or fserves for short). You need to type commands in the channel (chat room) to get to these fserves, and then you need to type more commands to get the files from these fserves. Finding the files - The channels, which start with a number sign (#), and the topics they advertise, tell you what's in the channel for download. Hitting Alt + L will bring up a box where you can search all channels titles and topics for the type of file you want. Main commands - When you get inside a channel, you can use a number of commands to list the fserves, get help, and get the files. !help - try this when you get into the channel, there's usually a help file someone will send you. !list - lists all servers in the channel you're in. (that's if the channel permits the use of !list, it should say in the topic or help file) @find - In some channels, you can type @find [thing you want here] and it will search all fserves for the file without you having to go through them all. But sometimes it's not allowed. Accessing the Files - When you type !list, usually a number of fserves will display themselves in the channel. On these displays, there's a "trigger". You can just search the display for this trigger and type it. Normally, the trigger starts with a "/ctcp" (always starts with "/"). When you type the trigger, you gain access to their fserve. Getting the Files - When you get into the fserve, you need to use commands to get the files. "dir" lists all files in the fserve. if some of these files are CAPITALIZED, that means they're folders and require more commands to enter. Simple type "cd" and paste the capitalized folder you want to access after it (cd [folder]). To get a file (lower cased, extension at end), type "get full filename here". Queues - Chances are, if the fserve is active, you will be queued for the file. Queues are like the waiting line in a bank, you must wait for the people ahead of you to be served before you are. Being in queue slot 4 means you'll have to wait for the 3 people ahead of you (queue slot 1, 2, and 3). Simply wait it out. Hope I helped.
