Is there any (preferably free) program that will automatically rename songs in a Track Number-Track Name fashion?

I'm not sure, but I think that MusicMatch JukeBox does that. I haven't used it for quite a while now, so I can't tell you for sure.

iTunes saves them in anyway you want. The default is "01 - <Track Name>" though.

Just to clarify, I don't mean songs I have ripped from a CD. I mean songs on my harddrive.

...how exactly do you change the naming? I haven't figured that out myself. =\

    What do you mean?

In iTunes? Or by right-clicking on a file and going to "Rename"?

There's a program called "Tag and Rename" that can rename them pretty easily. You can also search for tags from their databases and they will rewrite it for you.

You can download it here (it comes with a trial period)

    Not what I'm/we're talking about.

When iTunes imports the file and then saves it to the library folders, it saves as 01 - track name.ext, right? But if I read Branden's post correct, he says there's a way to change that so it's a different format, example: 01 - artist name - track name.ext

It's got lots of features, but it can be pretty confusing.

I used to manually rename all my files with winamp. I format my LP bootlegs with Show and date - track # - Song

It took SOOOOOOOOOO fucking long... then I realized that to get them to display the way I wanted on my iPod, I should have just left them.

And BTW, iTunes is a POS for renaming stuff. It puts underscores instead of spaces. :/
