Don't forget, it was Mike who first coined "reinterpretations." During his announcement of Recharged, Mike specifically called them "reinterpretations" in the first place. MTV just quoted what the band said.
Technically if we're arguing semantics here, any remix in itself is a reinterpretation, as it's the remixing artist's interpretation or reimagining of the original songs. Thus a reinterpretation.
Not necessarily; they're just claiming that it's more than a mere "remix album", which is par for the course when promoting any remix album anyway.
While true, it still doesn't make any sense to specifically call it such as if it's some new idea. Remixes are reinterpretations. Dogs are mammals. I'm not going around saying it isn't a dog, it's a mammal! So to clarify it's not more of a reinterpretation than any other remix album so it doesn't need to be pointed out at all. Reanimation, was different so it needs clarifying.
I just realized that the Vice on the vice remix might be the same DJ Vice mike did that freestyle with back in the day (that gave birth to the "we don't sleep to dream, we sleep to build stamina" line).
The only reinterpretation here is I´ll be gone with that pusha T and the amazing new verse from mike now, remove the verse of that pusha T add up the guitar and the result is better than the original song
I looked into this but I found nothing definitive about who this "Vice" person is so it's up in the air
DJ Vice website features I'LL BE GONE remix on the frontpage. Freestyle with Mike was under DJ Vice. DJ Vice = DJ Vice. Yes, they must be the same?
I don't know, back in the day when i just heard "Reanimation", I knew i have never heard something like THAT before. Even today, 11 years (..right?) later, now that i'm creating music by myself, i still find myself figuring out how to get some fx or sounds they got on that album. It's not the same with "Recharged" - This one makes me feel like i heard it all before on someone else's album or track, even worse - that i can make these kind of remixes on my own (most of them). This album is like the iPhone 5c for me, There's already something like that in the market, new colors doesn't mean it's a different approach. Or reinterpretation for that matter.
While I want their new album to sound absolutely NOTHING like this album, or even A Light That Never Comes, I will say some of them I did enjoy. I liked the Castle of Glass remix, Vice's I'll Be Gone remix, and the Skin To Bone remix, and the Lost in the Echo remix was okay. For what it is, it's decent. It's not a full-fledged studio album, but it's better than nothing. Just please, for the love of Jesus and all his furry animal friends, let Mike be as aggressive and cocky on his raps next album as he was on the two new ones here. Those raps were so badass.
This album is awful. The only song I got into was Mike's remix of Castle of Glass. The rest is radio mainstream EDM that's been done millions of times.
You gotta explain to me how the Victimized remix sound "radio mainstream" then. I'm not used to hear those kind of things on the radio, but maybe it's just me. Oh, and also the Rick Rubin Remix. And also the Money Mark remix. How do those sound EDM mainstream? Nothing against the fact you don't like this record btw. But your argument was generalizing too much. And also, it was not totally coherent as the COG remix actually sound more "EDM mainstream" than the 3 other songs I mentionned.
